Kamloops Courthouse Gallery The Old Courthouse Gallery and Artisan Co-op in Kamloops is filled with original art and gift ideas!

A downtown co-operative art gallery and gift shop displaying the talents of 11 local (Kamloops, B.C. and area) artists in the mediums of painting, photography, fibre, clay and glass. The gallery is in the beautiful and historic old Kamloops Courthouse.

A year in the making, with 4 months of sculpting and 2 months of mold making and casting.

Our Courthouse Gallery member, Nathan Scott has just completed a very large commission in bronze for a private client. At 10 feet long and showing 7 figures to scale, it's impressive and we are delighted to share it with you. Commissioned by grandparents, the sculpture captures their grandchildren and pet dog playing on a fallen log.
It consists of 82 pieces of bronze, all poured and welded back together, finished right here in Kamloops. Nathan is very proud about how it’s turned out. He’ll be delivering it this week to the client down on the Gulf Islands who are excited to have it installed after being an active part of the process.

August is flying! If you haven't had an opportunity to come in and view our 'Guest Artist of the Month,' Elaine Mayrhofer, hurry in! Elaine works in several very distinct styles. At our Kamloops Old Courthouse Gallery, she has on display her floral paintings as well as her Asian collages, made with her own handmade paper. Very unique!

Excited to announce we have another new member of the Courthouse Gallery, Vaughn Butland. Vaughn is a watercolourist who's misty landscapes capture the ethereal forests and mountains around us, here in Kamloops. Visit us to experience Vaughn's paintings, they are a delight to the eye.

"Drawing and painting have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Aside from the process of creating a painting, the greatest satisfaction I get comes from the feeling that I have produced something that people appreciate. Watching a happy buyer leave my studio with a piece of art, be it a small watercolour sketch
created on a mountaintop afternoon or a large oil portrait that took weeks to accomplish, gives me that feeling. As much as I love it when people like my art, I'm not at all saddened if they don't. Art, just as beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

My formal training led to a career in commercial art and advertising. Later, circumstances had me experience many other business ventures, from imports to building design and construction supplies. In 30 years of meeting business challenges, I felt success and disappointment, but my strong desire to paint stayed
constant throughout. In 1984, I decided to paint full-time, a bold move that
brought new challenges. The satisfaction and happiness I have experienced since
making that decision more than compensate for the ups and downs of making a
living with art."

Please join us in welcoming our newest Courthouse Gallery member, Mario Heubel. We are excited to have Mario's quality woodworks added to our gamut of artisans in the Gallery. Visit us to see much more of his work!

"Let me introduce myself.
It all began with my birth in Germany in 1959. My grandfather and father were carpenters, and craftsmanship is in my blood too.
For many years, I taught chemistry, physics, and specialized arithmetic for chemical laboratory technicians at a college (which actually has nothing to do with woodworking, but I already had a woodworking workshop at home). As a training manager, I was responsible for the training of laboratory specialists at a large chemical company in Switzerland.
In 2001, my family and I emigrated to Canada. Here, we successfully ran a guest ranch in the Cariboo area. Now retired, I dedicate myself more fully to woodworking. The peace and quiet and the well-equipped workshop allow me to be creative and work with wood.
I offered my handcrafted wooden items for the first time at the Kamloops Christmas Market in 2025. The demand was overwhelming! This inspired me to expand my hobby and create many more wooden products. I enjoy creating "works of art" that also serve a purpose.
I am proud to be a member of the Courthouse Gallery in Kamloops and am delighted to be able to offer my wooden artwork.
