Join us on October 20 to the 24 at 10:00–1:00 PM for a FREE, all ages event at the KMA!

Set the stage and prepare your escape—the finale is coming!

The Kamloops Museum and Archives invites you to Explosive Diorama! Drop in and learn more about Kamloops’ geology and volcanology through the art of stop-motion animation by helping us create the final scene of our epic escape story.

Use our new diorama table to build up your community, then film it while you set off the explosive reaction and watch the “lava” bubble and flow.

On October 23 at 11:00–12:00 PM as part of our Explosive Diorama pop-up exhibition, the Kamloops Museum and Archives will welcome world-renowned guest lecturer Dr. Nancy Van Wagoner, Professor of Geology at Thompson Rivers University, who specializes in volcanology. Dr. Van Wagoner has studied young and ancient volcanoes all over the world and is currently researching the Eocene Era volcanism in British Columbia.

Every Saturday October 3 to December 5 from 10:00 – 10:30 AM introduce your little one to the world of museums through music, song, and movement.

Ages 0–5, $6 a Session

Each session will offer various sensory and play experiences for young children and caregivers alike.

Learn more about the historic role of sewing and practice the basics in a hands-on, three-part workshop at the Kamloops Museum and Archives.

This workshop will teach participants the basics of using a sewing machine, reading patterns, and choosing fabric.

Participants will create a simple sewing piece to practise their skills.

Classes will be held November 14, 21, and December 5 at 9:30–11:30 AM. For Ages 12+, this program is $60 for all 3 sessions.

This is a FREE program for those ages 16+ the 3rd Friday of every month, 10:00–11:30 AM. Our next program is this Friday, October 16.

We will explore fiction and non-fiction books based on historical themes, periods, and countries.

Expand your little one's world through music, movement, and creativity. This music-based program welcomes children and caregivers to the museum space through songs, stories, and a connected art project.

Ages 1.5 – 5, $7 a session, 10:00 – 10:45 AM

Dress warmly and bring a coffee as you join the Kamloops Museum and Archives at the Memorial Hill Cenotaph on Battle Street.

Learn about the history of the First and Second World Wars and modern conflicts while connecting with the community at the historic Cenotaph. View vintage photographs from the archives and hear stories shared with the Kamloops Museum and Archives by the Kamloops Legion through original research and archival documents.
