A little glimpse into the part of custom framing you don’t always see. 🍂

Before we settle on a design, we look at more than what matches the artwork. We consider colour, texture, proportions, where the piece will live, and what you want it to feel like.

Yes, the table can get a little chaotic while we try different mats and mouldings. You don’t have to know what works before you walk in—that’s what we’re here to help with. We’ll talk through the options together until the right fit starts to take shape. 🖼️

Not everything we frame starts out as art. 🪵

This piece of birch bark was originally installed as insulation in Saint Augustine’s Steeple and Bell Tower in 1846. It remained there for years before being uncovered during restoration.

We framed it with a simple black frame and neutral mat, then added a custom plate to preserve the story along with the piece itself.

Sometimes the perfect frame choice is hiding right there in the artwork. ✨

For this wonderfully textured piece called “Mountain Heather”, we drew out the rich purple and carried it into the frame. A clean white mat gives all those tiny details room to breathe, while a fine gold edge adds just a touch of warmth.

We love that this combination lets the sheep steal the show. As they should. 🐑

Two pieces, countless tiny stitches—and two completely different finished looks. ✨

For this week’s Frame Friday, we paired each piece with a dark, detailed frame that echoes the intricacy of the needlework. A deep burgundy mat brings out the rich tones in the crow and florals, while warm gold gives the butterfly piece a softer, more antique feel. 🐦‍⬛🦋

The right framing protects all that careful work while making sure the details still get their moment. 🪡
