It’s Frame Friday 🖼️✨

Choosing mats and frames for a piece with a lot of colour can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to match everything.

A good place to start is by choosing one colour in your piece and building from there. 🎨

For this watercolour, we pulled out the deeper plum for the matting, then added an ornate gold frame from Omega Moulding to pick up some of the warmer tones.

Sometimes narrowing it down to one colour is all you need to get started. ✔️

We could have framed these two pieces identically, but where’s the fun in that?

Instead, we pulled a different colour from each — a bold red and an earthy green. On their own, they make each piece pop. Together, they make the whole pair come alive.

We’re happy to share that Frame Plus Art is now part of Nova Scotia Loyal!

We’ve been part of the Halifax community for over 40 years, and along the way we’ve been lucky to work with so many talented Nova Scotia artists, makers and businesses.

Our shop has always been a mix of things we love from both near and far, but we’ll always have a soft spot for what’s being created right here at home. Being part of Nova Scotia Loyal gives us another reason to seek it out, share it with you, and give our local artists a little extra love.
