With Kinsmen Park as our home base, we’ll hike through the River Valley learning skills like shelter making, fire building, and edible plant identification. We’ll work together to find our way through the woods, stopping along the way to chill and enjoy nature!

Looking for a way to get the kids off their screens and into the wild this summer? 🌲✨

Registration is now OPEN for our summer nature camps at Kinsmen Park and John Walter Museum! We’re heading into the River Valley for a summer of fresh air, muddy hands, and big adventures. Whether your child is an aspiring artist or a budding scout, we’ve got the perfect week waiting for them.

Location: Kinsmen Park and John Walter Museum

Ages: 8–10

Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Pre/Post care available)

Summer day camp registration opens March 11! ☀🌿
Look for our NEW nature camps this summer happening at John Walter Museum and Kinsmen Park! Register at https://movelearnplay.edmonton.ca/

The John Janzen Nature Centre remains closed due to a significant flood in April 2025 that was caused by a burst pipe. Repair work is underway and the Nature Centre is expected to reopen later this year. Nature Centre camps and programs have been relocated to other City of Edmonton facilities where space and staffing allow.

As you are aware, John Janzen Nature Centre experienced significant flooding in April when water infiltrated the building due to a broken pipe. There is considerable damage to both the building and its contents. Due to the amount of damage sustained, the building remains closed.

Nature Centre programs were moved to other available locations as much as possible during the extremely busy day camp season. We are grateful to our partners for providing space for us to continue to share our love of nature with your families and friends.

Work continues on the Nature Centre and we will keep you updated as things progress.
