What does the farm museum have in common with the salt marsh? We're glad you asked!

Before the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society and Cole Harbour Parks and Trails Association, there was CHEC — the Cole Harbour Environmental Committee.

This committee was the predecessor to our existing community organizations who steward Cole Harbour's beautiful trail system, and operate the farm museum, keeping our natural and cultural heritage alive.

We can't do this work alone.

We need your help to protect our beloved farm and trails for future generations to enjoy!

Join us for A Walk in the Park on Sept. 12 to show your support, and enjoy a beautiful day on the trails.

A reminder that our final Story Time of 2026 is tomorrow, Saturday August 29th at 11AM in the Outdoor Classroom. We have some great back-to-school books picked out!

Since June, Vivian and friends read more than a dozen different books. The books come from different collections, but many were borrowed from ! Libraries are an essential community resource. Supporting your local library can mean borrowing books, cds, audio books, or even getting a library card!

Introducing our next Education Station: Hands-on Nature for Kids with the Nova Scotia Young Naturalists Club

Join us for A Walk in the Park, from 10-3 on Sat. Sept.12 at the Cole Harbour Heritage Park & Salt Marsh Trial! A family-friendly fundraising walk for Cole Harbour's beloved farm and trails.

The Young Naturalists Club (YNC) is a nature club geared toward youth and their families. Their programs run from September through June every year, and take place at fascinating natural spaces around the province.

At YNC field trips and special events, you can learn from expert naturalists, explore local parks & trails, and experience the many fascinating natural phenomena that make Nova Scotia so awesome.

A focus of the YNC is teaching young naturalists to identify many of the amazing wild plants and animals (and lichens, and mushrooms, and more…) that surround us in Nova Scotia. We learn how to use basic naturalist equipment such as magnifying loupes, binoculars, and field guides.

Register now and start fundraising! It only takes a few minutes to sign-up, and we have excellent prizes for the top fundraisers!
