Architecturally, Mackie Lake House remains practically unchanged from its original construction, designed for businessman Rupert C. Its unusual styling, which combines Arts and Crafts elements with a stately Chateau-Style roof, and its finely crafted interior elements make it one of the most outstanding surviving examples of grand house architecture in British Columbia's interior. Mackie Lake House is open for privately booked tours and events. Surrounded by pristine lawns and gardens, on the shores of Kalamalka Lake in Coldstream, BC, Mackie Lake House is the perfect venue for your special celebration. It was such a delight to have Andrea as our Artist in Residence for the past three weeks! You can see her upcoming exhibition, Still, on view at the Vernon Public Art Gallery in the Community Gallery from October 16 to December 19, 2026. There will be an opening reception on October 22 from 6 to 8 pm.

Andrea Zittlau, Artist in Residence at Mackie Lake House, is taking inspiration from the grounds and heritage sites at the Bishop Wild Bird Sanctuary. Her exhibition will be at the Vernon Public Art Gallery from October to December, 2026, with an opening reception on October 8.

In this season of gratitude, we are so thankful for the support we received from the British Columbia Arts Council and Province of British Columbia through the BC Live Performance Network to support our annual concert series, Music at Mackie!

Music at Mackie brought 461 lovely people through out doors this year to enjoy live music on the lawn. If you were there, you know just how special it is.

Happy Birthday Paddy!

🎂 We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Patrick Mackie (and our friends at Mackie Lake House ) on what would have been his 104th year. It is fitting that just last week we finished digitizing this photograph from the Vernon & District Heritage Society fonds (MS 323) which features Paddy, along with Jan Waldon and Dave Richards, at the start of a heritage tour car rally in 1995!
