Last Call for Art After Dark Tickets!

Looking for something different to do this Friday? Art After Dark returns to the Vernon Public Art Gallery on October 16 from 7–10 PM for an evening of art, live jazz, creativity, and connection!

✨ Get hands-on with interactive art activities (no experience needed!)
🎶 Enjoy live jazz music
🥂 Sip locally made beverages and enjoy light bites
🎨 Explore the gallery after hours in a fun, social atmosphere

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door (limited quantities). Gallery members can purchase advance tickets in-person for $20.

A new ongoing program for adults is launching on October 24!

Join us at the Vernon Public Art Gallery for Show & Tell Art Club, a creative space for adults and young adults to share what they’re making and connect with other artists, makers, and creatives.

Saturday, October 24 | 1-3 PM
VPAG | 3228 31 Ave

Bring a painting, sketch, sculpture, craft, tattoo design, work in progress, finished piece, or anything else you’d like to share. Talk about your ideas, share what you’re working through, and get a fresh perspective from the group.

All skill levels and creative practices are welcome. You don’t need a finished piece or a formal art background. Just bring something you’re making and be ready to join the conversation.

Show & Tell will run on one Saturday each month on an ongoing basis. Reserve your space in this session or one of our other upcoming sessions on November 21 and December 12 through the link in the event listing.

It’s install week at the gallery! We’re taking down our current exhibitions and getting ready to welcome three new ones. While the exhibition spaces are being changed over, the Gallery Shop will remain open.

Coming up on October 16, explore 'Bound to Birth' by Darian Goldin Stahl, 'Exposed!' featuring VPAG Members, and 'Still' by Andrea Zittlau. Join us for an Opening Reception on October 22 to celebrate the new exhibitions!

Please note that the gallery will be closed this Saturday, October 10, for installation and Thanksgiving weekend. We’ll be back to our regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

Art After Dark is all about trying something new. It's a chance to visit the gallery, create, and enjoy the night.

Discover the gallery after hours with an event featuring new art activities, jazz duo Gabriel Vizcaino and Gil Kafka, light bites from Wedge Cheesery , live painting by Mandi Irmen, and a brand-new gallery photobooth made by our team that prints photos on receipt paper.

We're so appreciative of everyone who came out last night for the Closing Reception of 'Opera Obscura' by Mary Kavanagh and 'Your Absence is Mineral' by Sarah Steeves. It was a great evening celebrating what has been a wonderful set of exhibitions.

Since we weren't able to have an Opening Reception due to the wildfires nearby in early August, we were grateful to be able to come together now. This Wednesday, October 7th from 10am-5pm is your last chance to see both exhibitons at the Vernon Public Art Gallery.

The next week will be an exhibition changeover week, with new exhibitions opening on October 16th and an Opening Reception taking place on October 22nd.

Call for Submissions: Okanagan Print Triennial 2027

The Okanagan Print Triennial is open for entries! Since 2009, the OPT has brought some of the best contemporary printmaking to audiences in the Okanagan, and we're looking for artists working in print media from around the world.

Eligible work: intaglio, relief, screen print, and lithography, plus digital and 3D works that incorporate at least one traditional hand-pulled process. All work must have been produced after December 2024.

One winning artist selected by the jury receives a solo exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery during the 2030 Triennial.

Deadline: December 18, 2026. Submit up to five images through the OPT website. A $40 CAD entry fee applies to artists residing outside Canada.

Exhibition: March 19 to May 19, 2027 at the Vernon Public Art Gallery

The Vernon Public Art Gallery will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This closure provides our team with time to reflect, listen, learn, and participate in local community events as we recognize the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Nation on which we are located.

The art shown here is a beaded piece by Madeleine Sakakibara titled 'skʷukʷwiɬp (wild rose)', from the SD #22 Indigenous Students Exhibition 'Gathered', which was on exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery from May to June this year.

On September 30, we invite our community to pause for reflection, wear orange, and consider how we can each contribute to the ongoing work of reconciliation. We’ve compiled a list of local events and initiatives taking place across the region for those who would like to learn, participate, and connect with community:

Ever wanted to try your hand at life drawing or painting?

On Saturday, October 3, join us at the Vernon Public Art Gallery for an Open Model Session featuring a clothed model. Bring your medium of choice and spend some time painting or drawing from life in a relaxed and friendly setting. It will be PWYM for Culture Days.

The session will be overseen by an experienced painter who can offer tips and guidance on exploring colour, gesture, and composition through working from life.

An easel will be provided, but space is limited, so pre-register through the link in our bio to reserve your spot!

This session is geared toward adults, with a suggested minimum age of 16+.
