The next chapter of Canada’s aviation story will be written in Calgary.

In September 2027, Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame will bring its national celebration to Western Canada to honour four new inductees:

✈️ Giorgio Clementi
✈️ Billie Flynn
✈️ George Owen Johnson
✈️ Kenneth Patrick

The Canadian International Air Show will receive the Belt of Orion Award for Excellence.

Captain Robert “Bob” Pearson and the late First Officer Maurice Quintal will receive Canada’s Aviation Distinction Award for the skill and teamwork that brought the Gimli Glider safely to the ground.

Their stories span generations, but they share a common bond. Each helped change what was possible in Canadian aviation.

After an unforgettable evening in Ottawa, we look forward to bringing Canada’s aviation community together again.

A night like this deserves another look!

One week ago, more than 600 guests gathered at the Porter Airlines Maintenance Facility in Ottawa for Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame’s 2026 Induction Ceremony.

These photos capture the awards, the speeches and the people who made the evening so special.

They also capture the smaller moments; Families celebrating together. Friends reconnecting. Stories being shared across generations.

Canada’s aviation past, present and future came together under one roof.

On Thursday night, more than 600 guests gathered inside Porter Airlines beautiful maintenance facility in Ottawa for Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame’s 2026 Induction Ceremony.

With Peter Mansbridge serving as Master of Ceremonies, we proudly welcomed four remarkable Canadians into the Hall:

Robert Banks
Donald J. Carty
Ken Molson
Michael Potter

Their achievements span aviation medicine and research, airline leadership, historic preservation and the celebration of Canada’s aviation heritage. Their stories are different, but each reflects the vision, dedication and courage that have shaped aviation in Canada.

We also presented the Belt of Orion Award for Excellence to the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) and recognized the Canadian Space Agency | Agence spatiale canadienne’s Artemis II Team with Canada’s Aviation Distinction Award.

With Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen in attendance, we were reminded that while the Hall preserves our history, Canada’s next great aviation and aerospace chapters are still being written.

Our sincere thanks to Porter Airlines for hosting us, to our sponsors and partners, and to every inductee, honouree, family member, volunteer and guest who helped make the evening so meaningful.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 26, 1906.

Bain's last major project was the Air Canada jet fleet base at Dorval, Quebec. As Director of Engineering and Maintenance, he was mandated to oversee the design, construction and installation phases, as well as the training phases of the base development. He recognized the potential of computer technology, and a data processing centre became the heart of the base operations. Here he initiated computer tracking of aircraft components, resulting in greatly enhanced preventive maintenance. At completion, this base was state-of-the-art and its comprehensive design was copied in facilities worldwide.
