Available 👉gusoku (complete suit of armour)
Kaga School, Mid-Edo period, 18th century, unsigned

A fine and exceptionally well-preserved Kaga gusoku (具足), the complete armour comprising kabuto (兜), menpō (面頬), dō (胴), sode (袖), kote (籠手), haidate (佩楯), and suneate (臑当), together with the associated armour fittings and lacing.

The armour is distinguished by its harmonious construction, rich kinpaku/gilt-metal ornament, dark blue odoshi lacing and finely decorated textile components. The large maedate (前立) gives the kabuto a particularly imposing presence.

The armour is unsigned and remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition. All principal components are original to the ensemble, with no known replacements, substitutions or later exchanges.
Provenance:
Formerly in an old European private collection.

The exhibition « J’adore, c’est quoi? » on Asian and Japanese art has closed, but one last word remains.
Thank you to Kunty Moureau, who brought us Chef Jeremy Girvan for two refined dinners. Thank you to Serge of Dinedit, who took us to the top of the Upsite building, between hearth and heaven. And thank you to Bouzouk, who opened another sense of beauty.
« j’adore, c’est quoi? » is a concept built on one idea: there is the form, but in the beginning was the hand. The hand of the craftsman, telling their story, one that crosses borders and is nonetheless deeply universal: a quest for beauty 👉 Enquiries & Catalog available on request.

Bizen-yaki: The Next Generation
Contemporary Bizen artists are reimagining Japan’s thousand-year-old unglazed ceramic tradition. By marrying raw wood-fired textures with bold, sculptural silhouettes, this new generation transforms elemental clay into modern art.

Given how to position Japanese ceramics within contemporary art discourse rather than folk-craft framing, Bizen is an interesting case: it sits at the tension point, since it’s often marketed through mingei/tea-ceremony narratives, but contemporary Bizen artists - the internationally most well known Kakurezaki Ryuichi, have pushed it into sculptural, non-functional territory that argues against the folkloric reading entirely.
Some of the next generation are Syo Fujita,Takashi Baba,Taiga Mori, Kazuya Ishida…

Backpack days. Once upon a time, Vanarazi,India. Child of the universe.
For much of my life, Asia was simply the quiet background of my existence. It was present in the food on the table, the objects in my home, the stories I heard, and the values I absorbed without fully realizing it.
Only with time did I begin to understand how deeply it had shaped the man I have become — in the way I perceive beauty, character, craftsmanship, nature, health, and ultimately, what it means to live a meaningful life.
I gradually noticed that many of the values I hold most dearly were rooted in ideas and sensibilities inherited long before I had the language to express them. Through collecting art, I continue to discover and appreciate these influences with greater awareness.
I wanted to share a reflection on some of the philosophies, values, and sensibilities that have quietly shaped my path.
