The Design Museum Brussels, established after the acquisition of a private collection by the Atomium, is a place dedicated to design and its history. Since 2015, the museum's collection, The Plastic Design Collection, circumscribes the landscape of plastics in design from the 1950s to the present day. Alongside this collection, in September 2020 the museum opened Belgisch Design Belge, a new perma

nent exhibition space dedicated to Belgian design and its history. Enriched by a programme of temporary exhibitions, the Design Museum Brussels also explores other fields of design creation and its impact on society and our daily lives. Through exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, conferences and events, the museum aims to ensure that design is intelligible to one and all.

Inclusive Play, Objects and Spaces: Designing for Children

On September 17th platform voor architectuur & feminisme and Design Museum Brussels join forces to organize the conversation about designing inclusive environments for and with children.

On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Designing Childhood. A History of Design for Children’ at the Design Museum Brussels, we invite you to a conversation on contemporary design practices that place children at the centre. Together with three inspiring speakers, we will explore how inclusivity, play, and pedagogy take shape in practice.

Lieke Lenaerts (Lieke Li. Lenaerts) will present the collaboration between Product Design students at LUCA School of Arts and children with hand or arm disabilities.
已 ጦ ጦ Ƌ will share her experiences with projects centred on play culture, including the Nüdel Kart, developed for children living in refugee camps.
Wim De Graeve will discuss his work at Art Basics for Children, where he designs and builds creative learning environments.

We invite you to join the conversation and share experiences and ideas on design practices for and with children.

On June 7th, we gathered for our Design Brunch 🥞

A day filled with good food, creativity and discoveries!
Visitors enjoyed a delicious brunch by POP POT, explored our exhibitions, and took part in unique activities, including a behind-the-scenes experience with Baguette Studio and the unveiling of their new portable rotomolding machine.

Le 7 juin, nous nous sommes retrouvés pour notre Design Brunch 🥞

Une journée riche en saveurs, en créativité et en découvertes !
Les visiteurs ont savouré un délicieux brunch proposé par Pop Pot, exploré nos expositions et participé à des activités uniques, dont une immersion dans les coulisses de Baguette Studio ainsi que la présentation de leur nouvelle machine de rotomoulage portable.

Op 7 juni kwamen we samen voor onze Design Brunch 🥞

Een dag vol lekker eten, creativiteit en ontdekkingen!
Bezoekers genoten van een heerlijke brunch verzorgd door Pop Pot, verkenden onze tentoonstellingen en namen deel aan unieke activiteiten, waaronder een blik achter de schermen bij Baguette Studio en de onthulling van hun nieuwe draagbare rotatiegietmachine.

Take a look behind the scenes of Baguette Studio during the Design Brunch on Sunday June 7 💡

Baguette Studio invites you to discover their manufacturing process and unveils, for the very first time, their new portable rotomolding machine. The design duo is concerned with environmental issues and the limitations of our industrial production systems. And the studio is behind LE LABO 1.0, a series of circular lamps made from natural waxes and electronic components compatible with OS_Studio’s OpenStructures grid.

Baguette Studio vous invite dans les coulisses de leur processus de fabrication et dévoile, pour la toute première fois, leur nouvelle machine de rotomoulage portable. Le duo de designers est concerné par les enjeux environnementaux et les limites de nos systèmes de production industriels. Le studio est à l’origine de LE LABO 1.0, une série de lampes circulaires conçues à partir de cires naturelles et de composants électroniques compatibles avec la grille OpenStructures d’OS_Studio.

Baguette Studio nodigt je uit om hun productieproces te ontdekken en onthult voor het eerst hun nieuwe draagbare rotatiegietmachine. Het ontwerpersduo houdt zich bezig met milieukwesties en de beperkingen van onze industriële productiesystemen. De studio staat aan de basis van LE LABO 1.0, een reeks cirkelvormige lampen gemaakt van natuurlijke wassoorten en elektronische componenten die compatibel zijn met het OpenStructures-raster van OS_Studio.
