Shaun Daniel Allen (Shal),is a proud Bundjalung man and contemporary artist whose practice is informed by his observation of environment. His work explores the waterways, land, and skyscapes of Country, using a distinctive visual language of expressive colour and natural materials to map interconnected landscapes.

When does a body begin? Conception starts with two pre existing components, a loop that continues itself indefinitely. We were always here and will continue on after our bodies seperate from our selves. We physically transition and age throughout the brief span of a lifetime but our eternal bodies are death proof. Religious teachings preach conditional eternal life, but we were here before such doctrines came to be. Our bodies came from something and will end up somewhere, eternally.

At night, familiar things loosen their edges. Across sculpture, painting, moving image and installation, the exhibition traces bodies in states of becoming-carrying pain and memory, moving through desire and labour, merging with machines, and extending into material and ecological worlds. The works consider how we take shape through what touches us, what we carry, what we survive, and what we might still become.

Yoko Georgiou is a multi-disciplinary artist from Nigata Japan, based in Torquay, Victoria. Working across various mediums – from textile design to rug tufting, paper craft to painting – Yoko transforms childhood memories and inspiration from nature into bold and vivid-coloured creations. Tangibility is a key goal across Yoko’s endeavours, all of her pieces are intended to be interacted with as functional artworks

On September 12th, 2001, the day after the Twin Towers were attacked, street photographer Mike O’Meally captured the downtown New York landscape in a state of change. 9/12 features a trove of largely unseen photographs amidst a smoke-filled Lower Manhattan with sirens echoing around the crew. On black-and-white film, O’Meally captures skaters pushing through the streets shaped by loss—but buoyed by defiance in the wake of tragedy. To mark the 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, this new publication honours the spirit of New Yorkers who endured unimaginable hardship, yet persevered against all odds.
