We support artistic innovation and offer exciting, new experiences for audiences through an award-winning curated program of exhibitions, performances, workshops, residencies and events. Blacktown Arts is committed to exploring dynamic, culturally diverse work that

reflects Blacktown, its history and its communities. We place Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and communities at the heart of the program to develop new work drawing on issues of local and global significance. Blacktown Arts at The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre is an innovative multi-arts hub located in the heart of Blacktown, a short walk from the railway station. The Centre has:

• 2 gallery spaces
• 75-seat performance studio
• Workshop studio
• Weaving garden

General admission is free. We acknowledge the Darug people who are the traditional owners of the Land on which we work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and thank them for their Custodianship of this Land.

Emerging creatives from African and African-descended communities across Western Sydney are invited to take part in a paid mentorship with internationally acclaimed Nigerian-American artist Victor Ehikhamenor.

As part of ‘Undoing the City’, you’ll have the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and develop your creative practice alongside a small cohort of artists.

The mentorship includes:
✨ 4 in-person half-day sessions
💻 2 online sessions
🎨 attendance at the opening of the Undoing the City exhibition
💰 total mentee fees of $3,300.

Travel allowance and artist support provided.

Meet Gabriel LT Ralph, Shimmy's collaborator for the Digital Artist in Residence.

Gabriel is an artist based in Sydney with a background in mechatronics, engineering and computer science. He explores the artmaking through the lens of technology, focusing on the connection of mathematics and nature.

Gabriel operates across many mediums both digital and physical to create engaging and interactive installations.

Ranging from stories about food and community to exploring the impacts of the digital age, what links them all is their connection to Blacktown and western Sydney.

Grab a few snacks and a drink from a nearby cafe and take a seat on the library stairs or get up close.
