Geelong-born artist Rohan Robinson has maintained a dedicated painting practice for over 40 years, working across landscapes from the Victorian coast to the Kimberley, far north Queensland and the Western Desert. Alongside his painting, Rohan has worked as a musician, builder and designer, bringing a wide range of experience to his artistic practice.

During 2010–11, Rohan managed Kayili Artists Aboriginal Corporation at Patjarr in the Gibson Desert, where he painted alongside community members and developed a close engagement with the desert environment.

Kalkajaka UnPlugged #1 and Kalkajaka UnPlugged #2 (2023) form a complementary pair, bringing together looping forms and scattered marks in shades of blue, white and black. Through ink, paint and charcoal, Robinson explores gesture, repetition and the relationships that emerge across the surface of the paper.

Paper #2 marks Robinson’s first exhibition with William Mora Galleries and is on view until 21 November 2026.

Now Showing: Paper #2 at William Mora Galleries — Gerard van Dyck

How can movement be held in a still form?

Gerard van Dyck’s faceted paper reliefs translate rhythm and gesture into sculptural form. Drawing on his background in dance and his interest in physics, entropy, architecture and the passage of time, Gerard creates works that are both structural yet fragile.

Described by the artist as snapshots of entropy, these works explore the relationship between geometry and the natural world, with folded surfaces that evoke both eroded landscapes and constructed architecture.

A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Gerard co-founded the award-winning dance-theatre company KAGE in the late 1990s. This exhibition marks his first presentation with William Mora Galleries.

Gerard’s works are currently on view as part of Paper #2 in William’s Study, until 21 November 2026.

Come along this week to see Paper #2! We’re open Wednesday through to Saturday and look forward to welcoming you.
The images below feature Lisa Walker’s new works, Between a Rock and a Cloud #1 and #2, in which she returns to analogue photography, exploring the boundaries between the real and the imagined.
“The works shift between capturing light that skims the surface, noticing a blind spot that catches your eye, and ink black shadows that anchor the image down”
The blacks are deep and velvety. A compelling interplay of light, darkness and perception, inviting us to look a little closer.

William Mora Galleries is delighted to share that 133b by represented artist, Henry Lewis, has recently been acquired by the Museum of Art and Culture, yapang (MAC yapang).

Henry’s work from his Breathing series was exhibited in Confluence, a group exhibition curated by Anne Graham at MAC yapang from 21 February to 19 April 2026, alongside artists Anne Graham, Hilarie Mais and NOT.

Exploring themes of breath, repetition and the connections between body and place, the exhibition highlighted the signature qualities of Henry’s practice, including his exploration of optics, colour, geometric rhythms and visual perception through digital assembled photography.

We congratulate Henry on this wonderful achievement.

William Mora Galleries presents Paper #2, bringing together works on paper by seven artists: Gerard van Dyck, Henry Lewis, Brian Martin, Anna Pelc, David Hugh Thomas, Rohan Robinson and Lisa Walker.

United by their use of paper, the artists approach the medium in remarkably different ways, encompassing collage, charcoal, watercolour, photography, three-dimensional works and digital prints.

Across these varied approaches, a recurring preoccupation emerges with country, place and identity. Paper is a means of recording, interpreting and defining the world around us, revealing both personal and shared connections to place.

To be opened by Melbourne-based composer, songwriter and classically trained guitarist Christopher Marlow Bolton.

We hope to see you there!

Until 21 November 2026. Please email or dm for enquiries.

William Mora Galleries is delighted to congratulate Brian Martin on receiving an Australian Research Council (ARC) Fellowship, one of Australia’s most prestigious and highly regarded research programs.

Brian’s project seeks to build Indigenous pathways within the cultural sector through a Connecting with Country framework. It will investigate the intersections between practice-led research and Indigenous ways of knowing, generating new knowledge around Indigenous mark-making and the ways in which the cultural sector can develop ethical and meaningful relationships with Indigenous knowledges, cultures and creative practices.

The project will contribute to new models for exhibition development and Indigenous engagement across museums and galleries, while strengthening the agency of Indigenous practitioners, communities and knowledge holders within the cultural sector.

We are proud to celebrate this important recognition of Brian’s ongoing contribution to Indigenous art, knowledge and cultural practice.
