Just popped up in our memories from 4 years ago when we first moved into Brunswick.

We’ve carved out our little slice of heaven in — From once an area run down with rubbish and grubs; our community has given her a long awaited shine, we’ve fostered a rad little creative hub for everyone to play. It’s so nice to see how much has changed from when we started.

Opening next Friday night — CREATURES by .m
-
Carlos Velasquez is a Colombian artist based in Sydney. His practice spans drawing, video, and photography, exploring how ideas emerge from the subconscious and evolve into shared experiences. Through his work, Carlos invites contemplation — creating space for viewers to consider how perception shapes emotion, thought, and connection.

‘Creatures’ brings together small and large-format drawings and mixed media works that reimagine familiar images — icons of Western culture and everyday objects. By removing these elements from their usual contexts and juxtaposing them with unexpected symbols, the series exposes new meanings and subtle contradictions.

Through playful shifts in scale, colour, and association, Creatures invites viewers to see the familiar anew and reflect on how cultural imagery informs our understanding of the world.

OPENING THIS FRIDAY
-
Cause + Effect started its life in the ether. A true and unexpected collaboration with the forces of the nature, it grew out of devastating pain and sadness and then evolved into a story of radical healing, hope and gratitude. A testament to the power of asking the right question, at the right time, namely - ‘is it possible to make this the best thing that has ever happened to me?’, Cause + Effect tells the whole story of how a dark night of the soul was transformed into something beautiful that could be shared with others - uncensored, unapologetic and full of life – reminding us that when nothing is certain, anything is possible.
-
‘Cause’ opens this Thursday at .gallery and ‘Effect’ opens on Friday at Honey Bones from 7-9pm
-
Content Warning (Cause at .gallery ):

SO TIRED OF BEING opens tomorrow night 6-9pm
-
What the f**k are we doing on this floating piece of rock 150 million km from a burning star anyway? And if the probability of existence is so infinitely improbable... we must be in a simulation? Wait, no. Existence is divinely beautiful. We’re consciousness experiencing human form. But do not go too hard down that road because the highest form of existence (apparently) is to work in an office hot-desk situation under artificial light and synthetic plants for 8-10 hours a day, and if you don’t do that, then what are you even doing with your life?

Since the beginning of time, artists have asked, ‘What is the point?’ while leaking into the void. Boss Bitch Art Club continues this noble tradition in the form of a group exhibition. We don’t have any profound musings on existence, but neither do you. We do have (pointless?) degrees in art and years of building professional art practices, specialising in expanded analogue photography. We believe art can create a shared experience. It connects us, comforts us, and lets us know we’re not alone. Or we’re genuinely self-absorbed. Still, maybe, just maybe, there’s a world in which our art inspires a shared acknowledgment of dread and unified consciousness in the form of a smirk.
