It’s all in the details.

From brush strokes to texture, from lighting to placement — every piece holds a story.

The displays throughout Mungejup aren’t just visual — they carry meaning, memory, and connection. Some stories are bold, others sit quietly in the background, waiting to be noticed.

Take your time when you visit. There’s always more to see.

“Incredible as always.”

There’s something really special about welcoming people back into the space.

When visitors return, bring others with them, and continue to share their experiences — it tells us we’re creating something meaningful, together.

We’re grateful for every piece of feedback we receive. It helps us grow, reflect, and keep showing up for community in the best way we can.

Thank you for walking alongside us.

A reminder that modern Aboriginal history is rich, layered, and still unfolding.

Not always told, but always there.

From the late 80s to today, achievements like these reflect strength, discipline, and the presence of Aboriginal people across all spaces including the world stage of sport.

Among these stories is Alex Tui — a champion in his own right, and someone who went on to train others to reach that same level.

These championship belts carry more than titles — they carry stories. Come and take a closer look next time you’re on the Block.

More than weight.

This barbell and its colours carry strength. They hold story, memory, and movement.

Once part of the original Elouera Tony Mundine Gym, it now sits here as a reminder of what was built, and what continues — where community comes together, where discipline, pride and resilience are built day in and day out.

A reminder of the people, the energy, and the strength that lives on.

A perfect example of art that’s felt. Art that stays with you.

In The Dreaming Man, there’s a quiet weight - a sense of being caught between worlds, between past and present, between where you are and where you long to be.

This deeply personal piece by Gordon Syron shows a young man from the bush arriving in Redfern – looking for opportunity, only to find the city is not what he’d expected.

It speaks to displacement, and to the resilience and the strength it can take to hold onto your story, your identity, and your connection to Country.

Some events are just extra special.

March saw us host a Biennale of Sydney Artist Gathering, welcoming creatives from the 25th Biennale, Rememory — a powerful, thought-provoking exhibition.

To have such talented artists gather here at Mungejup, sharing their creativity and stories, while we shared the story of the Block and the Aboriginal Housing Company Limited, was an honour.

A meaningful moment of connection, storytelling and shared experience — one we won’t forget.

History, carried forward.

When the Aboriginal Flag mural at The Block in Redfern came down during redevelopment, the original bricks were carefully saved — each one holding story, protest, pride and community.

Today, those same bricks live on at Mungejup, not just as remnants of a mural, but as pieces of living history — grounding us in where we’ve been, and reminding us why place matters.

Blending past and present, the mural was reimagined through collaboration with Dennis Golding and Alex Tui at the Elouera Tony Mundine Gym.

Some things aren’t rebuilt.
They’re remembered.
