Shen Wei’s immersion in the landscape during his travels has led to a focus on trees and plants. “The images of the trees are like a thread that’s binding and interweave the entire series,” he says.

In Chinese culture, each tree has a symbolic meaning, corresponding with Shen’s own instinctive evocation of feeling in nature. Shen Wei says, “You can also see my fascination with botanicals and their subtle meditative energy.”
