Master of the observational documentary or "reality fiction", join us in the cinema to celebrate the life and works Frederick Wiseman.

With a unique vision of cinema primarily concerned with institutions, Wiseman’s documentaries examine the building blocks of Western society, helping us understand the society we live in.

We're presenting a selection of Wiseman’s films focusing on public institutions this spring, including HIGH SCHOOL, CITY HALL and LAW AND ORDER.

From acclaimed director Satoshi Kon comes MILLENNIUM ACTRESS, a captivating exploration of memory, cinema and identity.

When a documentary crew visits retired actress Chiyoko Fujiwara, her recollections blur seamlessly into the roles she once played on screen, spanning Edo-period Japan, the present day and imagined futures.

At its heart lies a lifelong search for a lost love, one that shaped her entire life and career, and a tender tribute to Japanese film.

From master animator Isao Takahata (GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES) comes an adaptation of a well-known 10th century Japanese tale – a tiny girl is plucked from a bamboo shoot and raised by a farmer and his wife, and as she grows, she is torn between her earthly upbringing and the celestial fate awaiting her.

Produced by Studio Ghibli, THE TALE OF PRINCESS KAGUYA was nominated at the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. Taking eight years to make, its impressionistic charcoal and watercolour animation makes the film as dreamlike as the story it's inspired by.
