Logan City Historical Museum

Logan City Historical Museum We are dedicated to showcasing the rich history of Logan from European settlement in 1826 to the present day.

Our exhibits highlight themes such as farming, mining, timber, industry, railways, schools, and Logan's role in both World Wars. Logan City Historical Museum is located in the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct, in a new purpose-built facility. We have many historical artefacts from the original Kingston Butter Factory on display as well as a wide selection of household and local industry i

tems. The Museum is operated by a dedicated group of volunteers, who are passionate about history and the part that European settlements have played in the local area. There are fascinating photographs of the Kingston Gold Mine and WWII airfields established around Logan, as well as historical and personal memorabilia illuminating the lives of Logan’s inhabitants over one and a half centuries.

Step into a little bit of magic with this enchanting Fairy Dress.

Created in 2023 by Logan City resident Deirdre Westerdale for her granddaughter’s final primary school Book Week, this unique piece was lovingly crafted from the pages of three books titled The Book Fairy. A beautiful blend of creativity, storytelling, and family connection, the dress celebrates both imagination and the joy of reading.
The bespoke display cabinet housing this special piece was generously funded through Logan City Council infrastructure support. The Logan City Historical Museum Society extends its sincere thanks to Cr Teresa Lane for facilitating this contribution.

Mother’s Day was established by American social activist Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honour her mother. Jarvis described it as a “personal day,” which is why Mother’s is singular rather than plural. Early celebrations included family dinners and religious services, and over time the day also became associated with sending cards and giving gifts. More than 100 million Mother’s Day cards are bought each year in the United States alone, and carnations remain the official flower of the holiday. 🌸
Logan City Historical Museum would like to wish all a
Happy Mother’s Day . To all the amazing mums, grandmothers, and mother figures who are celebrated today and every day. 💗

Try your hand at our fishing game and discover the different fish species found in the Logan and Albert Rivers. Once you’ve made your catch, head over to the information board to find out whether you’ve hooked a native or introduced species, learning has never been so hands-on.
Don’t forget to visit our beautiful fish tank display. The interactive fishing game is where children and adults can learn more about the unique aquatic life of our local waterways. It’s a great way to build knowledge about the Logan and Albert Rivers while having fun.
