The origins of the modern German Shepherd Dog can be traced to pastoral dogs from centuries ago. As wolves still occurred in mainland Europe these dogs were expected to be flock guardians as well as sheepdogs and this is why the GSD is a larger breed than typical British sheepdogs. The foundation strains contained long-haired, short-haired, and even rough-haired individuals. There were even some blue merles (described as ‘tiger-spotted’ by the Germans). Rittmeister von Stephanitz and Artur Meyer combined many strains together and by the end of the nineteenth century they had the finished product. It’s worth noting that out of scores of examples of breeding stock provided in Captain von Stephanitz’s book (1923) not one of them has absurdly angulated rear legs and every single individual sports a level top line i.e. parallel to the ground.

I want to Apologise for the lack of posts. Due to urgent personal and health reasons I had to relocate properties unexpectedly. Which was around two weeks. I also start work at 3:30am to 10pm. and to top it off. The wifi was not working well and no mobile/cell range. Something I never looked into prior. Thankyou and I appreciate your patience. Once I settle I’m hoping to make some changes.
