I was overjoyed to receive a Highly Commended award at the Art Society's Annual Exhibition at the Long Gallery last night. The sale of the painting was a further delight. Great for morale and inspiration. The painting is titled 'Elemental 1'.

A lovely surprise this morning to see that my painting 'Wind waves collide 2' was chosen as a Staff Pick by Bluethumb. Thank you Bluethumb. This is one of a series of 4. I loved making them using oil and cold wax medium and no brushes just silicon scrapers. The layers are built up to show luminoscity in the water.

The first two #1092 and #1093 are 60x60 cm,...

In my last news I reported on my exploration of a process to develop compositions based on a Jenny Nelson short course. It was fun to do and I think I created 14, 30x30cm black and white compositional ideas. These began with random mark making on papers that were cut into rough squares, reassembled,...

My May 2025 newsletter is available if you are interested in seeing what is happening now in my studio.

After my recent foray into colour which I love, I am experimenting with a black and white exercise from Jenny Nelson, a US artist and teacher. I have followed Jenny for a while; she is a colourist and often uses muted colours. Some of these are not ones I would use; this green for example. But I lov...
