Congratulations to Erin and Richard on the remarkable achievement of Black Point Lodge, recipient of the Dwelling Construction $2 Million to $4 Million Award at the 2026 Master Builders Tasmania Awards for Excellence.

Black Point Lodge is an exceptional example of architecture, craftsmanship and considered design working in harmony.

We were particularly honoured that Allanah’s Handmark Art Consultation was invited to contribute to the project through the selection and placement of artwork throughout the property.

For us, art is an integral part of creating a home. The right works can bring warmth, character and a sense of individuality to an architectural space, creating a dialogue between the artwork, the materials and the landscape beyond.

It was a privilege to be involved in such an extraordinary project, and wonderful to see Black Point Lodge recognised at the highest level.

Congratulations Erin and Richard, and to all those whose remarkable skill and vision brought this exceptional home to life. ✨

It’s the final weekend to experience Jeewan Suwal’s vibrant exhibition, 'Pulse of Nature', at Handmark Gallery.

Alive with colour, movement and energy, Jeewan’s abstract landscapes capture something deeply felt about the Tasmanian environment. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, these works explore what it is to be immersed within it, surrounded by shifting light, dramatic skies, changing weather and the immense presence of the land itself.

At the heart of 'Pulse of Nature' is the unmistakable presence of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Jeewan translates the emotional gravity of the mountain through bold abstract geometries, sweeping brushstrokes and brilliant fields of colour. Deep blues, radiant yellows, earthy tones and flashes of jewel-like colour evoke a landscape that can move from quiet stillness to wild intensity in an instant.

It’s the final weekend to experience Alex White’s beautiful exhibition, 'National Park', at Handmark Gallery.

There is something distinctly Tasmanian about Alex’s prints. Quiet, atmospheric and deeply connected to place, they capture not only the huts and landscapes of Mount Field National Park, but the particular feeling of moving through this remarkable environment.

Developed through five years of repeatedly walking, observing and photographing Mount Field across the seasons, 'National Park' reflects Alex’s intimate familiarity with the landscape. Endemic vegetation surrounds and contextualises the huts, placing these familiar structures within the rich, living environments to which they belong.

For those who know and love Mount Field National Park, there is a wonderful sense of recognition in these works. For those who don’t, Alex offers a beautiful invitation into one of Tasmania’s most treasured landscapes.

Congratulations to Handmark artist Luke Wagner on being announced as a finalist in the 2026 Fishers Ghost Art Award at Campbelltown Gallery in NSW.
Luke's piece is an exquisite new painting titled 'Leaning into Weather, Longford, Tasmania' and is a wonderful example of Luke's impressive ability to capture the atmosphere and feeling of place.

Two distinct visions of the Tasmanian landscape come together at Handmark Gallery in our concurrent exhibitions, Jeewan Suwal | Pulse of Nature and Alex White | National Park.

In 'National Park', Alex White turns his attention to the huts, endemic vegetation and diverse environments of Mount Field National Park. Developed through five years of repeated walks, observation and photography across the seasons, these works emerge from a deep and growing familiarity with place. White invites those who know this landscape to recognise something of their own experience within it, while offering others an intimate encounter with this remarkable environment.

Alongside this, Jeewan Suwal’s 'Pulse of Nature' explores the Tasmanian landscape through abstraction, colour and expressive gesture. With the powerful presence of kunanyi / Mount Wellington at its heart, the series moves beyond literal representation to capture the sensation of being within a landscape that is constantly shifting. Light, weather, atmosphere and emotion converge in richly layered works that speak to both the vitality and stillness of the natural world.

While markedly different in their visual language, both exhibitions are grounded in sustained observation and a profound connection to place. Together, they consider landscape not simply as something we look upon, but something we experience, remember and come to know over time.

Tomorrow evening we welcome two compelling new exhibitions to Handmark Gallery, celebrating the work of artists whose practices are deeply connected to Tasmania's landscapes, each in their own distinctive way.

Jeewan Suwal – 'Pulse of Nature' presents a vibrant collection of abstract landscapes that celebrate Tasmania through colour, emotion and memory. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, Jeewan captures its energy and the profound sense of place it evokes. The exhibition marks another exciting milestone in an extraordinary Tasmanian journey that has also seen his work commissioned for the new Spirit of Tasmania v.

Alex White – 'National Park' continues the artist's thoughtful documentation of Tasmania's historic mountain huts. Through his striking hand-carved linocuts, Alex records these remarkable structures and the wild landscapes that surround them, creating enduring portraits of places that are slowly disappearing from the Tasmanian landscape. Like Jeewan, Alex's work will also feature aboard the new Spirit of Tasmania V.
