This new prize emerged on the ninetieth anniversary of the hotel’s first art exhibition. nous and non-indigenous artists exhibited in two stunning new galleries within Hadley’s Orient Hotel. Come and stay at the historic hotel and immerse yourself in some of Australia’s best landscape art. Artwork is available for sale and there are several prize-related events to enjoy.

Our 2025 Residency Prize winner De Lamby Wulff has been very productive and making the most of her time here. We’re excited to share her creations with you all soon in an exhibition at Hadley’s titled HoLoS: House of Lamby on Show.

HoLoS – House of Lamby on Show – features the full breadth of her artwork with sculptures and 2D work she created during her residency alongside other artworks that she has made over the past few years, including The Music Within which came runner up in the 2025 World of WearableArt (WOW) in New Zealand.

Come and be amazed from 30 May – 29 June at Hadley's Orient Hotel from 10am – 4pm daily.
Admission will be free and De’s works will be for sale.

Hadley’s Residency Prize offers recipients the rare opportunity to spend a month immersed in the landscapes,culture and creative atmospheres of southern Lutruwita/Tasmania.

Calling Australian students!

The Hadley's Student prize is a $500 prize presented by the University of Tasmania for an outstanding artwork by a student working with a landscape theme in their visual art practice.

This prize is designed for students in year 10/11/12. The Hadley's Student Prize is also supported by Art Education Australia and the Tasmanian Art Teachers Association.

We’re thrilled to announce the finalists in this year’s Hadley’s Art Prize!

After an incredible response and a truly inspiring range of entries, our judges have selected 27 outstanding artists whose work captures the beauty and complexity of the Australian landscape.

Congratulations to all our finalists—your creativity and vision have set you apart, and we are proud to showcase your work.
We’d also like to thank every artist who entered. We recognise the time, effort, and care that goes into each submission. While we know not everyone will have received the news they were hoping for, we encourage you to keep creating, seeking out new opportunities, and to consider entering again next year.

The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 31 July. The exhibition of finalists will be open to the public on 1 August and continue at Hadley’s Orient Hotel in Hobart, Tasmania until 23 August.

Admission is free and accommodation packages are available.

We’ve had a wonderful year and were delighted by the strong attendance at this year’s exhibition.

Thank you to everyone involved: the judges, the artists, the viewers, event participants, the staff at Hadley's Orient Hotel, and all the volunteers.
