This new prize emerged on the ninetieth anniversary of the hotel’s first art exhibition. Hadley’s Orient Hotel is now home to an Australian landscape art award, the Hadley’s Art Prize, Hobart which offers $100,000 to the winning entry. With the theme for the 2017 prize being ‘History and Place’, the inaugural prize presents a range of connections with the past by some of Australia’s leading indigenous and non-indigenous artists exhibited in two stunning new galleries within Hadley’s Orient Hotel.
