This incredible pair of swans by Anna Louise Richardson will be presented as part of her upcoming solo exhibition, ‘Bird Years’.

Created using charcoal and graphite on cut cement fibreboard, this work depicts swans made with vintage textured towels and was originally commissioned for ‘Room Service’ last year as part of the biennale at an historic hotel. Responding to the site’s history, the work is a kitsch representation of aspiration, love, and appeals to a sense of joy.

The ‘Bird Years’ exhibition opens Lawson Flats next week!

New works landed! 🤎🖤 We are thrilled to have received incredible paintings from Kasper Raglus to the gallery. Glimpsed here is one of the smaller scale works, which cleverly use black and brown shades with his signature geometric forms and lines. Each captivating painting in the series brings a unique vision, which we are excited to share.

We love this studio snippet back from when Anna Louise Richardson created this work for her ‘Aziza’s Zodiac’ series, which reflected on her time navigating new parenthood and focussed on interactions with animals during the first year of her child’s life. Slide for the finished work 👉🏾🩶

Featuring the Southern Old Lady Moth amongst a sea of glitter, ‘Aziza’s Zodiac (November)’, was originally commissioned and presented at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre in WA.

We are delighted to welcome Anna Louise Richardson to Aster + Asha Gallery 🤍

Anna has exhibited extensively in shows throughout the nation and her major solo exhibition, ‘The Good’, is currently touring across the country. In 2023, she was the inaugural winner of the ‘Girra: Fraser Coast National Art Prize’ at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

Her drawing based work reflects on how identity is formed through place, family, and memory, engaging with the complexities of rural life. At the heart of her practice is intimate, regionally grounded storytelling and a commitment to radical optimism, to finding beauty and connection in the everyday.

Next month, we will present a solo pop-up exhibition of her work at Lawson Flats in Perth. If you are interested in receiving a preview catalogue, please DM or email us on [email protected]
