Thank you for the great Opening!

Thank you and for the great collaboration and evening together.

PASSANTS PARMI LES PIERRES
curated by Thomas Demand
Exhibition: 29.05.–20.09.2026
Franz-Josefs-Kai 3, 1010 Vienna

PASSANTS PARMI LES PIERRES presents 27 works spanning photography, film, video, and sculpture by artists including Luigi Ghirri, Sibylle Bergemann, Tacita Dean, Jürgen Jürges, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, Mohamed Bourouissa, Jeff Wall, and Carrie Mae Weems. Their works move between reportage and reconstruction, between the observed moment and the staged image, between historical event and its representation.
The writer Clemens J. Setz has composed a caption for each contribution, creating an independent textual layer within the exhibition space and thereby subverting the conventional relationship between artwork and commentary.

THOMAS DEMAND. Rooms That Dream of the Past
For this exhibition, Thomas Demand fuses the visual power of theatre and opera with his artistic methods. Using historical scenographic models as inspiration he created a series of bespoke works for the MAK that transposes a selection of models from the archives of the Theatermuseum () and the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco () onto photographic media.

curated by Bärbel Vischer ()
Exhibition: 27.05.2026–24.01.2027

JOIN US ON SUNDAY!
Finissage and Screening:
Sunday, May 10, 7–10 p.m.
Scott Clifford Evans’ Splatterhaus!

On the occasion of the finissage of Splatterhaus!, selected footage from Murderkino: Deathspa will be shown.

Scott Clifford Evans’ art installation Deathspa forms the center of his exhibition Splatterhaus!, and also served as the film set for the shoot of a new episode of Murderkino—the artist’s pivotal work in progress, the actual finale of which is not yet in sight. What looks like a spa is really not one, but rather a Lynch-esque interpretation of one by the artist. A place of transition, uncertainty, and the uncanny—mysterious and unsettling.
