A little pause this week while some important flooring restoration work gets underway at Joubert House.

So there will be no Milk Tart Morning this Friday, 9 October, but we look forward to welcoming everyone back through the doors next Friday, 16 October, for Mad Hatter’s Friday! 🎩

JOUBERT HOUSE TEMPORARILY CLOSED 🛠️

A quick notice for our community and visitors:
Joubert House will be closed from Wednesday, 7 October to Monday, 11 October while flooring restoration work takes place.

🎟️ The Old Mission Church remains open — and entry will be FREE during this period.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Joubert House when it reopens on Tuesday, 13 October '26.

We’re getting things started on Friday, 16 October, with our Mad Hatter’s Milk Morning at Joubert House, then keeping the momentum going with our Spring Open Garden on Saturday, 17 October, at 'Villa Victoria.'

Join the Friends of the Montagu Museum (FOMM) and Animals Matter Langeberg (AML) for a morning in one of Montagu West’s most charming gardens.

Get creative and craft a playful Mad Hatter’s garden-themed hat. The best part? Your hat does double duty: wear it to our Friday Milk Tart Morning, and again on Sunday while you enjoy your garden for National Garden Day.

🏆 A WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION FOR IRMA JORDAAN

We’re delighted to share that Montagu Museum’s Honorary Archivist, Irma Jordaan, was shortlisted as one of three nominees for the Best Researcher Contributing to Archival Heritage Award, WC.

Irma attended the awards ceremony at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town, hosted by Ricardo Mackenzie, Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport.

For eight years, Irma has volunteered her time to catalogue, organise, and research our archives — helping to make Montagu’s history accessible to all. Alongside Rudi Allmayer, she also helps bring our archives to life through the Montagu Stories project.

As Museum Manager Lithalethu Mshoti noted in the nomination: “Archives don’t have to be dusty or static; they can be living resources that bring people together.”

A wonderful recognition of Irma's contribution to our Museum and our community. 👏

Despite the unpredictable weather, spring is officially here, and Friday Milk Tart Mornings on the Joubert House patio are starting to feel a little more spring-like.

Every Friday from 09h30–11h30, the tables are set, the tea and filter coffee are brewing, and freshly made milk tart is served. ☕

🌿 Pop in and enjoy a little Friday stoep chatter. And while you’re here, have a wander through the herb garden and around the new stone spiral.

PS | A little heads-up: From 1 October, Milk Tart Morning will be R40 for a slice of milk tart and bottomless tea or filter coffee.
