March 24, 1960.

24 blast furnaces in the Youngstown District. Lets see if we can list them from memory:

Trumbull Cliffs in Warren
Jeannette and Grace at Brier Hill
Ohio Works 1-6
Republic Steel 2-5
Campbell Works A,B,C,D
Mary Furnace in Lowellville
Anna Furnace in Struthers
Hubbard 1 and 2
Sharon Steel 2 and 3

Yep that's 24 furnaces. Previously there had been 27 furnaces in the District which included Haselton 1 and I think the two Shenango furnaces in Sharpsville. And that doesn't even include the other merchant furnaces in Sharpsville, a couple more in Sharon, one in Leetonia, Ward furnace in Niles etc. Oh and lets not forget about the Tod furnace at Brier Hill.

The flywheel drive build is progressing. Back shaft and sprocket is now in place. Waiting on a roller chain connecting link to arrive before we can see if it will be able to rotate the flywheel on the Tod Engine.

We got four sticks of rail installed before one of the outrigger cylinders blew out. So tomorrow we shift gears and will work on placing ties and spiking up what we got laid out today. Great work everyone!
