We’re dreaming of a White Christmas a little early this year. 🎄✨

For generations, White Christmas and Holiday Inn have been part of the holidays. Movies watched with parents. Songs remembered from grandparents. Traditions passed from one generation to the next.

This year, a rare piece of that history is coming to the Mahoning Valley.

The 18th annual Memories of Christmas Past returns November 14 through December 31, featuring White Christmas: The Exhibition, with rare original costumes and artifacts connected to White Christmas, Holiday Inn, and the Irving Berlin legacy.

And that’s only part of the experience.

✨ The beloved Crystal Tree returns
🎄 19th Century Christmas
🌎 Nativities From Around the World
❄️ Jack Frost
🎁 Plus more throughout the museum

One ticket. Two experiences. Admission includes both MVHS museums.

Yes, we know it’s only August. But opening is less than 12 weeks away, and this is one holiday season you’ll want on your calendar.

Come make new memories while experiencing a little piece of holiday history.

In 1896, a small bakery by the name of Ozersky Bros. Baking Company opened at 352 Boardman Street in Downtown Youngstown. It was founded by brothers Nathan (1867-1942), Emanuel (1877-1936), and Louis (1874-1937), Russian Jewish immigrants in search of a new life in the United States. Ozersky Bros. Baking Company became the first Jewish bakery to open in Youngstown.

The business found much success, moving to a larger shop on East Federal Street, then once more to 808 Franklin Avenue in 1911. In 1913, the brothers expanded their operations to include a wholesale and retail grocery business along with their bakery under the firm name Ozersky Brothers. Their baked goods, which included rye bread, challah, and poppy seed-sprinkled kipfel rolls, were delivered throughout the Mahoning Valley by horse drawn wagons, as seen in this photo. The business provided employment to many European Jewish immigrants settling in the area.

Gift of Irving Ozer, son of Louis Ozersky and Anna Altshuler, 2004.34.1.

Mahoning Valley artiFACTS is curated by Brooke Testa, MVHS Curatorial Assistant.

✨ 18 YEARS OF CHRISTMAS MEMORIES 🎄

This year marks 18 years since Memories of Christmas Past first opened at the Arms Family Museum!

Since then, thousands of visitors have walked through the museum to experience our ever changing displays, discover unique Christmas collections, and make holiday memories with friends and family.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has made Memories of Christmas Past part of their holiday tradition over the years. ❤️

As we get ready for this year’s exhibition, opening November 14 and continuing through December 31, we’re taking a look back at some of the memorable displays that have filled the Arms Family Museum with Christmas magic over the past 18 years.

Do you recognize any of these? Tell us which Memories of Christmas Past display you remember most! 🎄✨
