Born and raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, his lifelong attraction to the water has strongly informed his work as an artist. His enjoyment of human interaction with seascapes and the iconic images of paradise both lost and found is readily apparent in his large, multi-dimensional canvases. Jazz works primarily with oil and acrylic paints, frequently joining the pigments with discarded materials
and found objects—in his words, “anything I can get my hands on.” He sees each piece as an exploration of the space beyond the canvas, the dimension of imagination and association stimulated within the viewer. A graduate of Brown University, Jazz pursued an earlier career in organizational behavioral management. Art became an integral part of his life as he sought to reconcile the world of business with the express human need to find community in shared spirit and experience.
