The University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s PRINT FEST Steamroller Printmaking Event is a daylong public printmaking showcase presented behind the Cultural Arts building on the campus of UNCW. Using a two-ton construction paving roller and an unlikely press bed – the street outside of the Cultural Arts building – a team of artists and volunteers will be printing large-scale woodcuts throughou

t the day. A variety of artists and colleges from around North Carolina will carve a design into wood, which will then be inked and printed before a live audience. The theme of the woodcut designs this year is based on the work of local non-profit, Cape Fear Guardian Ad Litem, http://www.cfgala.com. The large, unique prints will be for sale during the event in a limited edition of three prints for each of the artist’s woodcuts. The steamroller prints are highly limited editions and one print from each artist will be hung the day of PRINTFEST in the Mezzanine Gallery of the Cultural Arts Building.
