REPOST FROM JUST DuPage :

"Blooming and Building at Hope’s Garden today! 🌱🍅🌶️
A huge thank you to Cantigny for the generous donation of 75 tomato plants and 75 pepper plants in a variety of selections.

We were also grateful to have Greenhouse Manager Bob Carr on hand to personally deliver them to us.

We truly appreciate the continued support and dedication from Sheriff James Mendrick, DuPage County Sheriff's Office and College of DuPage.

As a great man once said, “It takes a village.” We are fortunate to have that village behind us as we look forward to a positive gardening season and giving back to our local food pantries."

Cantigny's Garden Highlights This Week 🌸

🌿 Climbing Rose ‘John Cabot’ — The roses are coming in strong! The John Cabot climbing rose is the first to bloom in the Rose Garden, with deep pink flowers stretching up the arbor. Pollinators love the blooms now, and birds will enjoy the bright rose hips later this season. (Rose Garden)

🌿 Misty Lace Goat's Beard — Creamy white flower plumes, like an explosion of white chenille, brighten up a shady corner of the garden. Finely cut, fern-like foliage creates a soft, low mass that remains attractive after flowering. (Lower Garden & North Scallop Garden)

🌿 Kousa Dogwood — This small tree knows how to make an entrance. Bright white blooms light up the branches in late spring, followed by raspberry-like fruit that birds love. Come fall, the foliage turns rich shades of red and burgundy for one more round of applause. (McCormick Allee & Octagon South)

🌿 Blue Flag Iris — Wonderfully intricate, striking violet-blue flowers rise above attractive, upright, sword-like foliage. This native iris loves wet feet and attracts native pollinators. (First Division Museum stream & Gold Pond)

🌿 Blue Kazoo Spirea — Blue Kazoo keeps things interesting all season long. Its foliage shifts from burgundy and purple to cool blue-green, then finishes fall in fiery reds and oranges. Right now, it’s covered in clusters of tiny white blooms that pollinators can’t resist. (Gravel Garden, White Garden, & Idea Garden)

🌿 Lavender Lightsaber Veronica— Upright, candle-like flower spikes packed with lavender-purple blooms rise above dense green foliage in early to midsummer. Its narrow form creates pleasing vertical lines. The long-lasting flowers attract bees and butterflies. Looks best when planted in masses. (Gold Pond North)

Calling all makers, artists, and vendors with a little French market flair 🇫🇷

We’re still looking for a few French-inspired vendors to join this year’s Voyage en France at Cantigny on July 19 from 10 AM–4 PM.

Vendors will line McCormick Allée with outdoor 10x10 spaces as part of one of the most charming summer festivals around. Expect stroll-worthy shopping, French-inspired fun, and plenty of reasons to linger a little longer outdoors, celebrating the country that inspired this very estate.

If your products would feel right at home at a French summer market, we’d love to hear from you. Applying is free, and selected vendors will receive a payment link for the vendor fee afterward.
