The Almy House was located at 1194 Horseneck Road. Built in 1760 by Job Almy, it was a rare gambrel style Georgian dwelling. It was called “The Mansion” by the Almy family. Sadly, the house was demolished in 2006. It was home to a significant member of the Westport community, William Almy, who was Westport's Delegate to the General Court at the time when the Constitution was Ratified. He was elected as Westport’s representative to the general court fourteen times. He was also one of the members of the first board of selectmen of the town, moderator at its first town meeting, also served in this capacity at many subsequent meetings, served a member of the building committee of the first town house, and held other minor town offices.
