New Writing Workshop
THE GREAT BOTH/AND: LIVING WITH PARADOX

Sunday, May 31, 10am-2pm

Life is rarely, if ever, an either/or equation. Rather, it challenges us to hold competing tensions that vie for our time, energy, and attention, suggesting that we must choose one over the other. Yet, when we are able to "live the contradictions," we learn to hold the tensions in lifegiving ways.

Through prompted writing exercises, discussion and reflective image creation, we will explore some of the paradoxes that both constrain and motivate us. No prior writing or art experience required. Just bring an open heart, curiosity and good listening ears. All materials will be provided. Limit 10 participants.

Held by experienced facilitator and local poet Sarah W. Bartlett. A welcome letter with additional details will be sent the Friday before.

$45. WAG members receive 20% off. Register by Friday, May 29.

Cold Wax and oil painting demo Tuesday , May 12, 6 PM at Westport Art Group

Tuesdays at WAG

1740 Main Road, Westport MA
Free and open to the public
Barbara Healy will demonstrate painting with cold wax mixed with oil paint. Cold wax is an exciting medium that can be added to oil paints. The demo will explore application methods using more than a brush.

Barbara Edlund Healy’s paintings reflect the quiet beauty of the New England coast. Oil and acrylic paintings are inspired by the diverse colors of light, atmosphere and nature. After growing up in South Windsor Connecticut, Barbara attended UMASS Dartmouth. Her degree in textile design has given her a background in color but she often paints plein air to learn from nature. Her studio in Dartmouth, MA is on the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Westport Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
FREE, $5 donation suggested
