March National Craft Month Share! 🧶🪡🧵
Our Spinners & Weavers house had an opportunity earlier this year to learn from where they l were taught about the style and techniques of Frida Hansen which involve the use of positive and negative space in a way to highlight and contrast elements of the work. Pieces were brought into to show different ways the technique could be used and our tapestry weavers were inspired to start their own.
Jill Koch a member here shared her finished project where she was able to incorporate some beading to really bring more to the piece. Truly Great work Jill!

The Wheelwrights at AGSEM took on a big restoration that we feel is perfect to share with you all for National Craft Month.
This is the restoration of the “Daisy Reaper”, actually the second time of this restoration happening at AGSEM. Invented by Cyrus McCormick in the Late 1800s , the “Daisy Reaper” is an agricultural advancement helping to replace strenuous manual labor involved in harvesting grain.
The care and craft taken to restore is why we feel this is a perfect sign of Craft for this National Craft Month.
Don’t forget this month if you head your the bookshop when you purchase an admission ticket kids 14 & under get a free book* in celebration of National Craft Month.

After the rains at the Museum this area runs with water… this morning on my walk around our frog friends were making some noise. The Museum sits within the Guajone Regional Park in the Vista/Oceanside border. The name Guajome, pronounced gwah-hó-may, comes from the Luiseño Indian word wakhavumi meaning frog pond. To learn more about the history of this area visit our friends next door at the Rancho Guajome Adobe. #frogpond #agsem #vistaca #guajomepark #sdcountyparks
