Brewery Terra Firma Our brew house is a mix of new and old technologies and techniques. The prep table in the brewery quite often looks like the prep area in a fine restaurant.

Brewery Terra Firma is Michigan's 1st environmentally friendly, sustainable, agricultural production brewery & taproom making culinary inspired beer and cider in a responsible way. Whole ingredients are used with traditional brewing equipment, controlled by state of the art systems that manage temperature throughout the process. These same systems harvest waste BTU's, capturing energy that would normally be lost and reuse it to preheat ingredients, maintain product temperatures, and even heat the taproom via an in-floor heating system. Waste materials such as process water and spent grain are also captured and stored for fertilization and irrigation of our crops. Fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables are a common sight, along with an amazing array of spices, roots and even flowers. Whole foods, fresh frozen or dried are used, artificial flavorings, extracts and coloring agents are not. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized, its clarity being attained by the addition of natural clarifying agents and allowing ample time for the beer to clear.

It's Tuesday and you've done enough.

Come have a b**r.

We've got Trivia at 7, the Red Wings at 7, a fire going if the evening gets chilly and plenty of places to settle in with a b**r, c***r or whatever else makes Tuesday feel less like Tuesday.

And if you haven't tried the new Kernza American Wheat yet, this is a pretty good excuse. We grew the Kernza right here on the farm and turned it into b**r. That's about as fresh as it gets.

Manitou Amber is still back where it belongs, Batch 500 is pouring and the c***rs are doing their usual job of making people say, "I thought I was having just one but I'll take another".

Sure, that's normal.

Bring a friend. Bring your dog. Bring your questionable trivia knowledge.

We'll take care of the rest.

Lots more Manitou is coming off the canning line this week and then we move on to harvest b**rs!

It’s a beautiful day to sit in the sun with a pint of Manitou or if you’re a hop head, Batch 500 IPA or if you’re a c***r lover we have plenty of those too and some fresh local charcuterie!

Sunday on the farm.

Yesterday was sunshine and football. Today can be a little slower.

The fire will be going, the dogs can run around and supervise and there's still plenty of fall happening outside.

We're pouring the new Kernza American Wheat, made with Kernza we grew and harvested right here on the farm. We've got Manitou Amber back on tap and in cans, Batch 500 pouring and the c***rs doing their thing.

And if you like a b**r with a story, we've got plenty of those.

Manitou and Batch 500 IPA date back to the 90s and both go back to the old Traverse Brewing days and now Kernza gives us a b**r made from something that literally grew in our own field as others have done in the past.

That's one of the fun things about having a brewery on a farm. Sometimes the next b**r is growing outside your window.

It's also why the sustainability part matters to us. The grain comes from the farm, spent grain goes back to the fields, we capture and reuse water and effluent and when the weather turns cool we capture heat too — those BTUs that would otherwise be wasted we use to help heat the building.

B**r is more fun when you know where it came from.

Come hang out with us today and yes, the dogs can come play too. They probably think they own the place anyway. 🐕🍺🔥

This is one of those Saturdays where we really don't need to make up a reason to come out to the farm.

The sun is shining, the leaves are starting to turn, there's a fire going and we just tapped something pretty darn cool — Kernza American Wheat, brewed with Kernza we grew and harvested right here in our east field.

We're one of only two licensed farms in Michigan growing Kernza and the other one is Michigan State University. It's a perennial grain, so it stays rooted year after year instead of being replanted annually. That's a pretty interesting way to farm sustinably and an even more interesting way to make b**r.

Then there's the history.

Manitou Amber is Traverse City's 1st Craft B**r and is back on tap and in cans. It was first brewed in 1994 and Batch 500 IPA also comes from Traverse Brewing Co. LTD so get some of both. Two b**rs with a whole lot of Northern Michigan b**r history behind them.

The c***rs are ready too, including Cherry Queen and our other local favorites and yes, dogs are absolutely welcome to come supervise everything. Aggie Treats are on the bar and BTF state park leashes are right next to them with water bowls and leash tie up points on the picnic tables. They take their job very seriously so we should hook them up.

We've also got something else going on around here that you don't necessarily see: when the weather gets chilly, we capture the heat from our brewing and refrigeration systems and use those captured BTUs to help heat the building. We make b**r, grow things, reuse water and heat and generally try not to waste much of anything.

Today you've got a pretty serious football lineup if that's your thing.

So grab the dog, grab somebody you like and come spend a fall Saturday on the farm.

I'm pretty sure the b**r will take care of the rest. 🌾🍺🔥
