performer and film maker died leaving his
incredible and indelible creative genius on
the world stage. For many he is ranked
equal or superior to others who have gone
before him. His short lived life seems to be
filled with tensions and contradictions
which is reflected in the film “Purple Rain,”
and his album with one of the tracks being
“Purple Rain”. The music and words of this
song are haunting and serve to provide the
image for this work.

"The Pines of Rome"

When I was in Rome, I had the opportunity to attend an outdoor concert performed on the hill side dotted with majestic pines. As I listened to the music and ambient sound of the wind, I was reminded of the final movement of Ottorino Respeghi's "The Pines of Rome."
