The Isaac Shelby tribute held yesterday was an exceptional event. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Col. James Harrod SAR and Gov. Isaac Shelby SAR chapters for their contributions in honoring Isaac Shelby with such respect. Their support in the planning process over the last four months, and 32 emails later, has been invaluable in making this event enjoyable for all. Isaac Shelby truly was a remarkable man. We extend our gratitude to Carol Hill for sharing some of the more vibrant aspects of his history. She did an excellent job! We tried to record it for everyone to enjoy, but unfortunately, technology got the better of us. Isaac Shelby: Honoring His Legacy
Please join us on July 18th at 10 a.m. for a special “Lincoln County 250” event honoring Isaac Shelby, Kentucky’s first and fifth governor, as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of his passing. Bring a lawn chair, enjoy this patriotic program and discover something new about Isaac Shelby. The program will be held at the Isaac Shelby Cemetery State Historic Site, located at 6725 Ky Hwy 300, Stanford, KY. Please share and help us spread the word.

Lincoln County Historical Society will have their annual picnic, Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at the Immanuel Church Pavilion, 4114 Ky Hwy 643, Waynesburg (Ottenheim Community). Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member to attend. Come and bring a friend. We will have the church open and have Ottenheim memorabilia on display. ( Books, postcards, photos, certificates).

Join Us for Second Saturday 250: History Along the Wilderness Rd.
This Saturday, July 11th, immerse yourself in the past with Second Saturday 250 in Lincoln County. Historians will be on hand at each site to guide you through all the fun activities. Explore four historic sites on the second Saturday of June, July, or August:
L&N Depot & Museum (1866 Depot St)
Logan’s Fort (500 MLK St)
Old Presbyterian Meeting House (315 Main St)
William Whitley House (Note: Regular tour fees apply) (625 Wm Whitley Rd)
Start your adventure by picking up an activity book at any of the four locations. This book is packed with puzzles, a scavenger hunt, and fun activities to enrich your experience.
New this year: the America 250 Lincoln County Passport and an opportunity to win a History Basket! Be sure to register at each site for either an adult or kid's basket. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Collect a commemorative token at each site! All locations will be open from 11 AM to 3 PM, with the Whitley House opening at 10 AM.
