On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Moore County Historic Association’s second Colonial Day event will take place at the Shaw House property in Southern Pines from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The activities are free as a family event.

Activities will include Colonial reenactors in period dress, crafts from the period
including a blacksmith, basket weaving, spinning, period children's games, and hourly short talks about the time period and events. There will be exhibits and tours of the Property’s homes (Shaw House, Sanders Cabin, and Garner House) and the Agricultural Museum.

There will also be information tables for the Daughters of the American Revolution
(DAR) and Scottish Heritage USA.

The Heritage Day is the annual rite of spring showcasing the 1820s furnished Bryant House and 1760s Joel McLendon Cabin, the oldest dwelling on its original site in Moore County. On this special day, both houses will be open and there will be 18th and 19th century crafters, live music and food. There will also be “camps” of both the American Revolution and the Civil War with re-enactors, demonstrations of old-time activities such as quilting, weaving, cooking, woodworking, and living history.
