6th North Carolina Regiment

Website

6th North Carolina Regiment We visit historic sites throughout the Carolinas, Virginia, and beyond, where we reenact battles and demonstrate eighteenth century skills and camp life.

The North Carolina Historical Reenactment Society, founded in 1960, portrays the 6th North Carolina Continental Line Regiment during the Revolutionary War, as well as local militias from the French and Indian War through the late Revolutionary War. We have fun together; our members would not devote so many financial and temporal resources to the hobby if we did not love living history. We take historical reenacting very seriously and pride ourselves on the high quality of our interpretations of eighteenth century life. As reenactors, we share our historical knowledge with the public through these interpretations. In this manner, we can vividly explain the past, the everyday men and women who demanded freedom from colonial rule, and the social customs that defined their daily lives.

Here's something eye-smitingly different: a cocked hat made to adhere to modern hunting regulations.

🚩🚩 REENACTOR RED FLAGS 🚩🚩

You know the signs. Maybe you ARE the sign.

🚩 “But it’s hand-sewn” has been used to justify a purchase.

🚩 You’ve planned an entire vacation around a battlefield.

đźš© You own at least one object that would require a lengthy explanation if a police officer found it in your car.

🚩 There is black powder somewhere it probably shouldn’t be.

🚩 You’ve driven several hours to stand in a field and get yelled at.

đźš© You own more wool clothing than any reasonable modern person should.

🚩 Rain doesn’t cancel your plans. It just makes them “more authentic.”

🚩 You have ever uttered the phrase, “Hold on, let me get my musket.”

đźš© Your idea of a relaxing weekend involves gunfire, smoke, wool, mud, questionable sleeping arrangements, and absolutely no air conditioning.

đźš© And the biggest red flag of all?

You read this entire list thinking: “Okay, but none of these are actually red flags.”

All right, reenactors — we KNOW we missed some.

Drop your biggest REENACTOR RED FLAG in the comments.

Bonus points if you call out a fellow reenactor who is absolutely guilty of it. No names needed…but tagging is strongly encouraged.

Ever wonder how a reenactment comes together before the gates open?

It starts with Officers Call.

Early in the morning, commanders meet to go over safety, timing, battlefield movement, demonstrations, and the plan for the day. These are the leaders who help make the reenactment possible, guiding their units and making sure everything runs smoothly.

At the Battle of the Waxhaws, moments like this happen quietly behind the scenes but they are what bring 1780 to life for everyone who visits. Living history takes planning, teamwork, and people who truly care about honoring the past.

From Jim Daniel: Pam passed peacefully following a stroke from which she never regained consciousness. She was a loyal and valued member of the 6th NC for many years and will be remembered by many for her wonderful smile (and her love of M&Ms.)
