Discover New Work by George Averbeck

From sculptural vases to functional glassware, George Averbeck explores the creative possibilities of working with glass.

The Gallery Shop at Sedona Arts Center features work by George Averbeck, a glass artist whose practice combines technical skill with a thoughtful exploration of shape and color. With a background in metalwork and jewelry, George developed his glassmaking practice through studies at Northern Arizona University, the Vail Art Workshops, and Penland School of Crafts.

From sculptural vases to distinctive tumblers and decorative glass forms, his work celebrates the versatility of glass and the possibilities that emerge through craftsmanship and experimentation.

Come explore George Averbeck’s work alongside the diverse collection of original art throughout the Gallery Shop, where you’ll find artists working across painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, glass, fiber arts, and more.

Experience the 22nd Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival, October 16–24, an immersive celebration of art set against the extraordinary red rock landscapes of Sedona and the surrounding Verde Valley.

As one of the longest-running plein air festivals in the Southwest, this annual event brings accomplished artists from across the country to paint on location throughout the week, capturing Sedona’s changing light, color, landscape, and atmosphere in real time.

Visitors can watch artists at work throughout the region and enjoy a week of paint-outs, artist demonstrations, special events, and awards. From paintings taking shape outdoors to opportunities to meet the artists and discover their creative process firsthand, the festival offers a unique look at plein air painting as it happens.

SPAF 2026 Artist Spotlight | Lauren Davis

Lauren Davis is an artist and psychotherapist living in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. She studied sculpture and painting at the Art Students League in New York City, and holds an MFA in writing as well as an MSW from New York University.

Davis has received prestigious awards for her sculptures across the country, while her paintings have been accepted into private collections and juried shows. She has had several one-person shows in Westchester County, NY, as well as a one-person show sponsored by Willson and Willson Architects in Albuquerque, NM.

SPAF 2026 Artist Spotlight | Bill Cramer

Bill Cramer is well-known for his striking oil paintings of the American West. His style can be best described as Impressionistic Realism, using bold brushwork and colors to capture the vibrancy and beauty of the natural world.

Raised in the West, Bill always had a passion for exploring nature and creating art. Eventually settling in Arizona, he discovered the joys and challenges of plein air painting, with his outdoor experiences providing much of the insight and inspiration for his landscape paintings.

“I truly enjoy the essential act of painting, especially outdoors. I look for a balance between the actual scene and my reaction to it - not to replicate exactly what I see, but to convey what I want the viewer to experience. Every landscape is greater than the obvious visual elements. I am content when a painting is as rich as the landscape that inspired it!”

SPAF 2026 Artist Spotlight | Casey Cheuvront

Casey’s work is informed not only by formal study, but also by her passionate exploration of the Southwest wilderness, plein air habit, and life-long appreciation of the natural world, which has profoundly influenced her work.

Her enthusiasm is translated into a vibrant, modern palette and energetic, dynamic brushwork. She creates impressionist/realist oil paintings for those who love the Southwest landscape and wildlife, so that my collectors can share in that spiritual relationship. She wants to promote deeper respect and connection with our vanishing wild places and the creatures that call them home.

Casey’s artist statement: “My favorite shoes are hiking boots.”

Artist Spotlight: Kristine Mills

Located in our gallery shop, Kris’s work reveals her fun and playful nature as she experiments with combining found objects and creativity.

When she’s not exploring new places in artist residency, Kris makes art and teaches in Albuquerque New Mexico. She regularly enjoys collaborating with other artists and feels most art should be a bit funny. She continues to value play and simple joy, evident in her craftsmanship and detail.
