Art Market Vendor Spotlight!

Denise Emerson is
Diné and Enrolled with the Skokomish Nation! She shared this about her art:
The inspiration of the art pieces of women, mothers and babies comes from my Diné side, specifically a story told by my uncle telling me that all the generations of women in one family represents Mother Earth. All life in this world from the dirt, clay, sand, mesas, tumbleweeds, flowers, water, everything, are Mother Earth, and that women create life and are the same.

Come see Denise’s work in person November 29th, 30th and December 1st, at the art market -4705 W Marginal Way SW in Seattle.

Seattle’s History

OUR HISTORY

The Duwamish people have been in the Seattle/Greater King County area since time immemorial. Our stories, such as "North Wind, South Wind", tell of the last Ice Age, and an Ice Weir breaking over the Duwamish River.

We were the first signatories on the Treaty of Point Elliott in 1855, signed by Chief Si'ahl, who was chief of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
