There’s something special about the way R.C. Gorman used color. His work never needed a bold palette to make a lasting impression. Gorman once recalled that his very first art materials were rocks, mud, and sand from the Chinle Wash. That early connection to the land feels especially meaningful when you look at the warm, earthy colors that appear throughout so much of his work. Soft clay reds, sandy neutrals, and muted blues complement his signature flowing lines, bringing a sense of warmth, stillness, and quiet strength to each composition.
