Hart Park and Museum is the former retirement home of the famed silent film actor and director who produced a series of hit Western movies in the early 1900s. His beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival Style Mansion -- now the Museum -- exhibits an impressive collection of Western artwork by noted artists Charles M. Russell, Frederic Re*****on, and Joe de Yong, as well as mementos from early Hollywood

, personal furnishings and effects, and artifacts representing multiple Native American cultures. The Museum also includes an historic 1910 Ranch House that exhibits Hart's tack and saddle collection, personal furnishings, and additional Hollywood mementos. Both the Mansion and the Ranch House are located in scenic William S. Hart Park, where guests may enjoy visiting a live collection of farm animals, a herd of American bison, a vast picnic area, a series of hiking trails, and a charming Western-themed Gift Store. Free guided tours of the Mansion are started every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour during our hours of operation. The Ranch House is open for self-guided tours.

Did you know Hart and Fritz starred in their first movie together in 1916? They quickly became an infamous duo on the silver screen. While they enjoyed a prolific career together in Hollywood, they also shared a close personal bond even when the cameras weren't rolling.

Fritz lived on Horseshoe Ranch with Hart for many years before his death in 1938, and many of the items on view in Hart Mansion depict his beloved horse. To honor the life of his friend, Hart hosted a funeral that featured a string band and commissioned a memorial to be built on his property. The memorial is inscribed “Bill Hart’s Pinto Pony Fritz, Aged 31 Years, A Loyal Comrade.”

You can visit Fritz's memorial on Horseshoe Ranch behind Hart Hall.

If you visited William S. Hart Park during the Cowboy Festival, you may have noticed this building—but do you know the story behind Hart’s historic Bunk House?

The original Bunk House started as a log cabin and appeared in several films Hart shot on Horseshoe Ranch. After a fire destroyed it in 1927, Hart brought in architect Arthur Kelly to design a new structure.

The rebuilt Bunk House matches the style of the Mansion at the top of the hill. Be sure to stop by on your way up and see what details these buildings share!
