The Game of Buffalo Bill," c. 1898, by Parker Brothers features a game board illustration, multicolor lid, spinner, and wooden playing pieces. Players spin and move, aiming to collect 10 buffalo and return to Camp to win. Spaces include buffalo heads (points), "Captured by Indians" (lose a turn), and others that move players back.

While this game reflects popular themes of its era, it also perpetuates stereotypes and trivializes Indigenous cultures. The depiction of Native Americans as obstacles and the focus on buffalo hunting ignore the real histories and impacts on Native communities. Today, we recognize the importance of respectful representation and understanding the complexities of the American West.

"While the Blackfeet are known for their geometric designs, their floral subjects are less appreciated. At one time, these designs may have referenced known flowers, but over the years, the designs have been modified into what we see today. Floral designs may be found on moccasins, pipe bags, and other items...
..A distinctive characteristic of Blackfeet moccasins is the red trade cloth around the edges of the cuff, often found on women’s high-top footwear. Red ochre paint is sacred and used in many ceremonies in which objects and faces are often painted. I am very fond of the pair
with red ochre paint because it reminds me of home and the importance of ceremony. —John Pepion
