Luna Rienne Gallery Luna Rienne features visual artists working in contemporary mediums who integrate elements of urban culture with traditional techniques.

Our gallery program features urban contemporary painting, drawing, and sculpture that seeks to push the boundaries of color, technique, and fine art. We work with over 150 artists of varying styles and scales yet strive to achieve a cohesive aesthetic. Started as an online clothing boutique called fabric8 in 1995, we opened our current location in 2006 and shifted focus towards the multitude of talented visual artists working in contemporary mediums. Luna Rienne joined the team in 2012 and honed the mission of the gallery, consequently prompting the change of business name in 2013.

Did you know that the SOMA Pilipinas Jeepney was donated by Chaz Bear of Toro Y Moi ( Toro y Moi )?! He purchased the 1948 W***y model army jeep and tricked it out for his 2022 album Mahal — the same way bus drivers do in the Philippines — then gifted it.

Since then, SOMA Pilipinas has been using it to take people on ethno tours around the neighborhood, visiting landmarks, cultural institutions, and public art. We’re super excited to come full circle: he’ll be celebrating with us at Dekada this Thursday, Sept. 24 @ SOMArts. Catch his set at 6:00PM! Tickets available @ somapilipinas.org

FRIDAY 6-8PM, Sept. 4, join us at Yerba Buena Gardens for the unveiling of “The Philippine Sun (13°N, 122°E)”, a light sculpture by artist Mumu. Located across the street from SFMOMA in SOMA Pilipinas, its illumination will synchronize with the archipelago’s sunrise on the other side of the world.
