Tomorrow is your last chance to view our current exhibition at the gallery! Join us for the closing reception of My Name is Palestine happening Saturday evening.

For the closing ceremony, SoEx will be partnering with Arab.AMP in presenting SPARKS #3 - LABOR; conversation and performances by NAKA Dance Theatre and Wael Buhaissy of Al Juthoor Dabke Troupe. Wael Buhaissy performs songs on oud. Naka Dance performs “Last Seen,” choreographed and performed by José Ome Mazatl and Debby Kajiyama, with sound by giant undersea creatures.

Mission Valley Summer provides students in the Bay Area ages 16-21 with a visual art space to explore issues relevant to them and their community, exercise leadership skills, and utilize art as a tool for social change.

Three Lead Teaching Artists will work with Southern Exposure’s Artists in Education Program Manager to collaborate with and teach approximately 20-40 youth in a series of in-person workshops to produce visual arts projects based on a socially relevant theme. The program runs for 4 weeks: June 15 – July 2 & July 6 – July 9, 2026, Monday through Thursday, 12:00 – 3:00 PM, plus additional prep and clean up times to be scheduled. The program culminates in a final exhibition presented to the public at Southern Exposure opening July 23, 2026.

Teaching Artists will receive $33/hour, payable twice monthly. Apply before our deadline on Wednesday, May 27, 2026!

Join Southern Exposure THIS SATURDAY as we open “My Name is Palestine: Echoes from The Palestinian Museum’s Music Online Exhibition أنا إسمي شعب فلسطين ‘Ana Ismi Shab Falastin’” with a musical performance by Spite of Darkness, Detroit-based quartet led by Palestinian-American composer Mike Khoury. In collaboration with The Palestinian Museum (Birzeit) and Arab.AMP (Oakland), SoEx will debut an exhibition of sound and image sourced from The Palestinian Museum’s archives to create a wholly new and immersive experience of Palestinian life, anchored in musicality.
