This Thursday (and every 3rd Thursday)! The Decline of Redlands Civilization returns to ! Don’t miss our monthly punk night featuring an ear shattering vinyl set by , with nonstop punk rock bangers and occasional bad transitions (we’re going anyways anyways folks).

If you’re into punk rock and DIY culture, come down and hang with us and build community. We’re making things happen in the Inland Empire!

We’ll have the drink n’ draw table out too! Some refreshments will be provided but feel free to BYOB! $10 suggested donation at the door to benefit our nonprofit project and keep the madness going.

Saturday 9/7 from 6-9pm, join us at in downtown Redlands for the opening of “(DEPEND)ING ON YOUR(SELF)” a solo exhibition by !

“Drummer, painter, writer, songwriter based in Long Beach, CA. Been in several bands including The Lazy Cowgirls, Moist and Meaty, The Final Tourguides. Still active in Jack Brewer Band, Gertrudus, Marlon Brandi and The Wild Ones and Ding D**g Devils. Blue collar DIY approach to living gets me through this world. Started painting at my wife’s suggestion in 2007 when my mom passed away. I was in a deep depression, didn’t even realize this, and painting helped me to check out and channel my energies elsewhere for a while. I thank my wife for the suggestion because it really helped me deal with reality when she passed away in 2014. I have no influences that I know of but dig Big Daddy Roth, music and the super realm above for ideas, guidance, inspiration and I thank the punk aesthetic for getting me off my butt to get it all out there (somewhere above, the wife is laughing heartily).”

Pioneering urban artist/photographer James Stark has worked in photography, filmmaking and painting for over fifty years having produced series of portfolios over that time which range from the streets of New York City to San Francisco punk clubs and back streets of San Francisco to landscapes of California’s Great Central Valley.

Attracted to the Bohemian lifestyle from an early age, Stark moved to New York City’s Lower East Side after his discharge from the Army in 1966. This period was part of the “Hippie” movement was followed by his return to California and settlement in San Francisco. James was one of the artists instrumental in the forming of the punk rock scene in San Francisco. Utilizing his photographic and graphic art skills James designed posters and shot photos of bands and people who populated the San Francisco scene. In 1992 he published “Punk ‘77: an inside look at the San Francisco Rock n’ Roll scene, 1977” a history of the early days of the San Francisco Punk scene. Stark’s photos were published in New York Rocker, Slash, FILE and Search & Destroy among several other magazines. His photographs and posters were also published in “Hardcore California”, “Street Art”, “The Art of Rock” as well as “F**ked Up & Photocopied.”

His posters for the band CRIME have become classics and highly prized collectors items. In October of 2013 James was selected to be one of the participants in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition: Punk: Chaos to Couture and has work in the SFMOMA permanent collection.
