As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, we at Woodford are also celebrating our founder Naomi Wood’s 155th birthday (June 12th, 1871) and 100th anniversary of her death (June 21st, 1926)
Naomi was an avid collector of colonial furniture and household wares. Her lifelong dream was to open a house museum and share her collection with the nation. Unfortunately, Naomi passed away at the young age of 55 never to see her collection displayed at Woodford Mansion. Her friend, fellow collector, and executor of her will, Daniel Huntoon, saw to it that Naomi‘s dream was realized. With her collection and Daniel’s he signed an agreement with the Fairmount Park Commission allowing Woodford Mansion to be used to house Wood’s and Huntoon’s collections.
To see the collection and learn more about Naomi Wood visit us Wednesday-Sunday 10 am to 4 pm or check out our new website at www.woodfordmansion.org

We had a very special group of visitors at Woodford Mansion this week… George Clymer’s descendants! The family came to Philadelphia to see Woodford, Clymer Street and Clymer Elementary School! They also took a trip to Summerseat which was a home for George Clymer and his family out in Bucks County.
George Clymer was raised by the Colemans ( George’s aunt and uncle) after his parents passed away. Later in life, he was among the few that could say he signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. If you want to learn more about George Clymer, visit our website at www.woodford mansion.org or visit us Wednesday-Sunday 10-4 pm
