🍁 Thank You for an Incredible Harvest Weekend! 🍁

As we close out our 2026 Season, our hearts are full. This weekend brought an amazing turnout as families, seniors, military personnel, and community members from all across the North Country and Vermont stepped through our doors and filled the Museum with energy, laughter, and fall spirit.

🎃 Pumpkins Galore
We went through more than 65 pumpkins on Saturday alone, and we are so grateful to Sullivan Orchards for restocking us so Sunday’s visitors could enjoy pumpkin painting too.

🛠️ Tool Sharpening Class
A special thank‑you to Cornell Cooperative Extension Clinton County for hosting Saturday’s tool sharpening class. Your expertise and hands‑on guidance were a wonderful addition to the weekend.

🛍️ Our Wonderful Vendors
We were delighted to welcome Dragonfly Studio, Hidden Fern Creations, and ADK Hangings by Jen. Your creativity and presence added so much charm to the event.

🥧 Pie Eating Contest
Sunday’s first-ever Pie Eating Contest was a hit. Thank you to those who participated! We’re already excited to expand this new tradition next year.

🐴 Peakview Pastures Wagon Rides
We are especially grateful to Jenna and Eric of Peakview Pastures for providing free wagon rides with their beautiful Clydesdales, Misty and Hope. They were a highlight for guests of all ages.

💛 Our Volunteers — The Heart of the Museum
None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers. Thank you for operating the antique tractors, harvesting equipment, engines, the Blacksmith shop, and the Babbie Sawmill. Thank you to our cotton candy and popcorn makers, our pumpkin painting facilitators, our docents guiding children through old‑fashioned games, corn grinding, and hay bale lifting. Thank you to our Thomas the Train drivers, Stagecoach and Fire truck operators, and Schoolhouse guide. Every single one of you helped bring the Museum to life.

📸 A Season to Remember
We are confident that 2026 has been our most successful season yet; in visitor counts, in expanded offerings, and in the joy shared across our grounds. We’re already looking forward to even more in our 2027 Season.

The fun doesn’t stop here! We’ll continue hosting classes and events throughout the winter.

There is so much going on during Harvest Days, that we are confident you’ll find something fun to do! Don’t forget-we are open tomorrow from 10-4, and it’s the LAST normal event weekend until the spring! We hope to see you tomorrow!! 🐔🐴🚜🫏

Today we are blessed to have Jenna and Eric from Pastures with their Clydesdales Misty and Hope, giving wagon rides! These girls are sweet and gentle and have been quite the stars of today’s event! Also at the museum today we have Michelle from Hidden Fern Creations, and Amy from Dragonfly Studio. These ladies have some lovely handmade goods to sell, so come show them some love and support small businesses!

🍂 Harvest Weekend Is Almost Here — Just 2 Days Away! 🍂

Join us October 10th & 11th, 10 AM–4 PM at the Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum for a full weekend of hands‑on fun, farm traditions, and activities for the whole family!

🧒 A Big Weekend for Kids!
We have a huge lineup of children’s activities both days, including:
• Old‑fashioned kids’ games — every child wins a prize
• Fresh popcorn and cotton candy
• Our giant 8×8 corn bin where kids can dig and search for hidden coins
• Pumpkin painting
• Hands‑on corn grinding and water pumping
• Outdoor play area with sandbox, digging tools, teeter‑totter, and a slide off our wooden tractor
• Corn maze fun
• Feeding the animals — chickens, donkeys, and W***y the Haflinger

🚜 Weekend Highlights
• Corn harvesting demonstrations both days
• Blacksmith demonstrations both days
• Hay lifting with the hay fork both days
• Thomas the Train, Fire Truck and Stagecoach rides all day, both days
• Tool Sharpening Class — Saturday, Oct. 10th, 11 AM–2 PM
Learn from Master Gardener Volunteers how to sharpen and care for your garden tools.
• Pie Eating Contest — Sunday at Noon
Adults and teens compete with full‑size pies; kids can join in with small pies!
• Babbie Museum Sawmill running all day Sunday

Cost is $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and military personnel, $8 for children 5 and up; Free for children under 5.

Bring a lunch, enjoy our picnic area, and celebrate the season with us at 250 River Road, Peru, NY.

🍁 Family Fun at Harvest Weekend!

Bring the kids and join us October 10th & 11th from 10 AM to 4 PM for one of our most exciting weekends of the year — Harvest Weekend at the Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum!

👧🧒 There’s something for every child to enjoy:

Old‑fashioned games with a prize for every child
Fresh popcorn and cotton candy
An 8×8‑foot corn bin for playing and searching for coins
Pumpkin painting and hands‑on corn grinding and water pumping
A Corn Maze to explore
Our outdoor play area featuring a sandbox with digging tools, airplane teeter‑totter, and a wooden tractor with a slide

Plus, the chance to feed our friendly barn animals — chickens, donkeys Sally and Jigger, and our Haflinger horse W***y!

And that’s just the start — Harvest Weekend also features live demos of corn harvesting, sawmilling, blacksmithing, and hit‑and‑miss engines, along with pie‑eating contests, stagecoach rides, and more.

Pack a lunch, enjoy our picnic area, and make lasting memories with your family!
