A contemplative angelic figure, wings unfurled, reaches toward her own face amid a constellation of painted orbs and tangled barbed wire. A watchful crow looks on. Yuji Hiratsuka's "Meteor Ride" (2025) is an etching with chine collé that draws on ukiyo-e tradition and Zen philosophy, holding the familiar and the fantastical in the same breath — an image that resists easy resolution and rewards a second look.

Many collectors are fascinated by a finished print but rarely have the opportunity to see how it evolves from the earliest stages. Part of an ongoing educational series from Warnock Fine Arts, this short film uses David Smith-Harrison's Cotoneaster to illustrate the role of progressive proofs in the etching process.

Progressive proofs have long been valuable to artists and printmakers, but I believe they're also one of the best ways to help collectors understand the creative decisions behind a finished print.
