On view in the Spotlight Gallery: Duo Exhibition by Angee Ferrin & Wilson Romero

Angee Ferrin was born in Caracas, Venezuela on January 25th, 1977. She attended the University of Los Andes in Venezuela at the School of Architecture & Arts and obtained an Architect Degree. Angee, coming to Florida straight from Venezuela. She quickly established her artwork in the North American arts and cultural scene, by participating in numerous exhibits in cities such as New York, Orlando, and Miami. Angee partook in the weeklong Scope Miami International Contemporary Art Show exhibiting during the Art Basel Miami Beach week.

Angee has been influenced by the french artist Seurat, known as the father of pointillism. Angee’s winning painting is a tribute to her unique method of a modernized pointillism technique that she defined as “Contemporary Pop Art Pointillism”.

The outcome of all her art pieces is a smashing form of modern pointillism at its best. With her own newly found technique Angee gives us a magnificent surreal interpretation that both mesmerizes and leads the eyes of the observer to the open door of the imagination.

Wilson Romero was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1967. He attended the University of Cecilio Acosta, where he earned his degree in Art Education. His interest in new opportunities encouraged him to move to the United States in 1994. Wilson's artistic vision matured as he discovered new inspirations for his work based on family, cultural influences, and diversity. The geisha has become his most well known subject matter, emerging from a love of fashion and metaphor, as seen with the geisha's elaborate outfits where each garment contains specific meaning and significance.

"Painting is the only place where I can reach my heart; when I paint, I can see my soul like a mirror. When I paint, I can feel my poems in every single brush stroke full of colors. Through my paintings I am here, I am not invisible. I exist," Romero stated.
Wilson's paintings often include his own poetic writing on the back of his pieces, which gives the viewer insight and understanding of his creative journey.

On view in the Side Gallery: “Guatemala: My Place of Trees” Solo Exhibition by Ambar Santiago, Curated By Juan Pablo Santa Luna

Ambar Santiago is an Orlando-based painter and illustrator whose work explores cultural identity, diaspora, isolation, and the search for belonging. A third-generation American of Guatemalan descent born in Puerto Rico, Santiago uses botanical environments to convey the experience of growing up disconnected from one's cultural heritage.

Beyond her studio practice, Santiago works as the Operations Administrator and Curator at Mills Gallery in Orlando, where she has become increasingly involved in exhibition development, artist advocacy, and community engagement. In 2026, she was recognized as a "Woman of Impact in the Arts - Rising Star" by NOSOTRAS LATINAS and MUJER EMPRENDE.

Guatemala: My Place of Trees, curated by Juan Pablo Santa Luna, marks Santiago's Exhibition debut at CityArts' SIDE Gallery. The exhibition brings her exploration of Guatemalan heritage into a personal dreamlike landscape, asking what happens when you inherit a culture you are still learning how to call your own.

Join us Thursday, October 8 at 5 PM at CityArts for an artist talk with Ambar Santiago. Come hear Ambar share more about her work and artistic practice.

On view until October 10 at 6:00 PM.

On view in the CityArts Café: “Proof of Life” Solo Exhibition by Angelo the Artiste

Proof of Life is a visual record of one year in the life of a full time artist. The ups and downs, and the good and the bad. Being honest about what it felt like and what struggles, sacrifices, vulnerability come with becoming a professional artist. Through surreal graphite portraits, each piece represents a different stage of the journey, reflecting the internal battles and personal discoveries that happen behind the scenes. This exhibition is evidence that I was here and that I kept creating, despite everything this first year threw at me. I pushed through to become the artist I am today and will continue to be.

This collection is a full story to follow from the first piece to the last. So take in each piece from beginning to end to truly put yourself in my shoes.

About Angelo the Artiste

Angelo the Artiste is a 31 year old self taught artist whose journey began with a pencil and a deep curiosity for expression. With over 16 years of dedication to art, Angelo has honed his craft through persistence, experimentation, and an unwavering passion for visual storytelling. In 2024, he officially stepped into the professional art world, turning years of personal practice into a full-time creative pursuit.

Working primarily in black and white, Angelo is known for his surreal portraits that blend realism with imagination. His pieces often explore emotion, identity, and dreamlike perspectives, using fine detail and contrast to bring striking visions to life on paper. Each portrait invites viewers into a layered world where the familiar meets the unexpected.

Beyond the studio, Angelo extends his artistry into the public space through mural work across Orlando. His community driven pieces aim to inspire, connect, and transform everyday environments into meaningful visual experiences. Whether on paper or on walls, Angelo the Artiste continues to evolve, driven by a commitment to growth, creativity, and impact and to open up people’s mind and touch the world through his art.

On view until October 10 at 6PM.

On view in the Austin Commercial Gallery: "Hidden Florida" Group Exhibition, Presented by Art For All Spaces

Florida is known around the world for its beaches, theme parks, and famous tourist destinations. Yet beyond the familiar attractions lies another Florida—one filled with remarkable places, forgotten history, hidden natural landscapes, unique architecture, overlooked businesses, and cultural treasures that most people never experience.

Hidden Florida celebrates those places and stories. Rather than depicting what appears on travel brochures, participating artists were challenged to discover the extraordinary in the overlooked. Visitors will encounter artwork inspired by secluded parks, quiet neighborhoods, little-known museums, family-owned diners with virtually no advertising, foreign consulates hidden in plain sight, independent art galleries, historic landmarks, and countless other locations that reveal the rich diversity of the Sunshine State.

The exhibition encourages residents and visitors alike to look beyond Florida's famous attractions and appreciate the remarkable places that exist just outside the spotlight. Every artwork serves as an invitation to explore, ask questions, and discover something new about the state many call home.

Participating artists include Patricia Byron, Eric Wise, H. Gorlitz Scott, Jolie Spelman, Samantha Levine, Ken Cashon, Cathy Hempel, Teri Chin, Vera Gubnitskaia, Bob Smedley, Joyce Hayes, Natasha Schaidt, Cheryl Ceullar, John Baker, Juliana Davidson Ross, Dafeney Josue, Debra Knispel, Parker Sketch, and Belina Wright.

On view until October 10th at 6:00 PM.
